Renault Dodge 50 S56
For sale is my Renault Dodge 50 1983 which I have owned and enjoyed for the last 23 years. It is registered as a motorcaravan with the DVLA and as it is now over 40 years old it is also registered with them as a Historic vehicle. This means as well as costing £0 Road Tax and Mot exempt it is also exempt from all LEZ charges including ULEZ in London.
The engine is a four cylinder perkins 4.236 (3800cc) which is renowned for its simplicity and reliability. It has been extremely well maintained using genuine Perkins parts which are all available. Recent new clutch, release and spigot bearing including flywheel skimming. Too many things to mention on here but I’ll answer any questions.
Body and roof is aluminium and chassis is bombproof. It’s basically a truck really. 4 new tyres on rear axle. Power steering. You need C1 on your licence as it’s over 3500kg, you will probably already have C1 if you passed your test before 1st January 1997.
We have been all over Europe in our bus spending many of the winter months in Spain and Portugal. I would head south again tomorrow without hesitation.
The rear cabin is wood panelled with two overhead cupboards, an open shelf unit and a unit under the hob. Stainless sink fed with water from a 80 ltr fresh water tank with external fill point. Twin burner hob and a recently installed full size 3 way Dometic fridge freezer which operates on 12v, 240v and gas (£800 !). LED down lights. Large storage area under bed. Hanging space for coats and storage area for outdoor chairs.
Wardrobe for hanging space which we currently have a rack in for storage use. Solar panel controller (MPPT) linked to two 110amp leisure batteries.
Toilet compartment with storage for creams etc and LED lights.
In the main cab there is the dining table with three cupboards overhead and down lights. Eberspacher diesel heater under seat unit fitted with intake and exhaust silencers. Bed/settee opposite with open shelf above and more storage underneath. 240v pure sine invertor, fresh water level monitor, battery monitor. Heiki 2 roof light.
Audio with speakers to front and rear cabin. Twin reversing cameras. Silver screens for all windows. Comes with custom made scooter and bike rack if required.
Currently set up as a three berth, two in the front area and a single in the rear cabin which has a large storage area underneath.
