Meet Ruby—a stunning, reliable, and cherished 1973 Westfalia camper looking for her next chapter. Originally shipped from the factory to the sunny West Coast of America, she spent her life in California before being imported to the UK in 2011. We have proudly owned and cared for her since 2013, keeping her garaged and well-maintained.

Mechanical Excellence & Bodywork:
Ruby isn’t just a looker; she’s built to adventure.
When we first got her we had her resprayed inside and out. Insulation and new carpets were added, together with new flooring. At the end of 2015/beginning of 2016 she underwent a full engine rebuild, including twin Dellorto carbs, expertly handled by The VW Camper Company in Banbury. She has covered only 6,000 reliable miles since. Over the years with us she has had a new clutch, starter motor and electronic ignition fitted, together with an oil temperature gauge and an electric fuel pump, all helping to make her a reliable and easy to maintain van.

Easy Ownership:
Being a 1973 model, she is both Tax and MOT exempt (though we still have her checked over annually at the local garage).

The Authentic Westfalia Experience:
We have purposefully preserved Ruby’s original charm. Inside, you’ll find the iconic original Westfalia furniture layout with original cabinets, icebox and sink, albeit with our own take on furnishing fabrics. Because she was a California spec, she never had internal gas appliances and we have kept her like this, cooking and washing up outside the van.

Versatile Sleeping:
Ready for the whole family with the original rock-and-roll double bed, a double bed in the pop-top, and the original single bunk frame is available (just needs a new canvas to be perfect), and if you have more than four to sleep, then just hook up the Outwell drive away awning she comes with (included in the price).

Why Ruby?
Ruby has been our pride and joy, reserved for sunny camping trips and kept tucked away in a dry garage when not in use. She is in very good condition, combining vintage soul with modern mechanical peace of mind. We simply don’t use her as much as she deserves anymore, and she’s ready to bring some “Bus Life” magic to a new family.

Maintenance & History:
Ruby comes with full provenance, a complete and organised history of works in the US and here in the UK. We have retained all receipts and paperwork for work performed during our ownership, alongside an extensive collection of documented history from her time in California. You won’t have to guess about her past; it’s right here in the folder.
