Conversion Description

Are you tall? Do you want to travel but struggle to fit into normal campers? Not anymore! Meet Oaky, our 2021 XLWB, high-roof Fiat Ducato. We’re an Aussie couple regretfully selling Oaky after traveling Europe full time for a year in our off-grid campervan. We are looking to sell our home on wheels late July/early August 2024. Can deliver almost anywhere – England, Wales, Scotland or Europe. Feel free to reach out to us via email or WhatsApp using the details within the ad.

Our van was professionally converted by Studley Campers (Quirky Campers approved) in May 2023 and is designed for tall people with a 2.1 meter internal height and (UK) super king-size length-ways bed. It has a lot of creature comforts, and a power system and layout that supports remote work/large power usage.

The van is fully off grid and lasts 4-7 days depending on water, toilet and power usage. It is fully insulated and suitable for cold and warm climates – we were very comfortable in negative temperatures along the NC500 and in the Pyrenees with the heater and fresh water tank blanket. The open layout, large internal size and various windows/roof vents also keeps the van cool in warm temperatures.

Detailed specs:
– Internal height of 211cm (standing room for up to 6’9”!)
– Huge super king 210cm length-ways bed (achieved via two pull out slides over the table/bench seats) with spacious garage underneath
– Moving from bed-mode into table-mode is easy as most of the bed is fixed, with two pull-out sections. One section can be put away while the other remains in bed-mode, so that one person can use the table while the other stays in bed (for early morning meetings). The bed can still be accessed and used while in table-mode as a width-ways almost double bed.
– Internal access from the cab to the rest of the van (this has been so helpful for us when arriving late to sites or in the rain)
– Swivel passenger seat with a pop-up workbench
– Comprehensive power set up (see details below) – we charge laptops daily in the van and manage completely through solar and alternator charging
– Two comfortable bench seats and a large slide out table (64 x 94cm) with 5cm clearance to leave items on the table when getting in and out – perfect for board games!
– Large sealed internal bathroom: adjustable height shower, ceiling-mounted fan and space for a composting or chemical toilet
– Fully kitted kitchen: two-burner gas stovetop, Thetford oven, 110L Dometic fridge, wooden countertop, deep sink with extendable sprayer faucet and hot/cold water
– LPG Propex heater with two vents (one to the main van area and another to the bathroom to create a drying room) and Propex hot water system
– Lots of storage: five overhead cupboards, two kitchen cupboards, storage under one bench seat (perfect for a wine cellar), large over-cab storage, small book/laptop shelf, and a large garage (W180cm x H70cm x L123cm) under the bed. In the garage we fit two bouldering pads, two camping chairs, suitcases, van accessories (ramps, chains, etc) and bulky pantry items that we access via internal garage doors
– Lots of light and breeze inside the van with a large skylight over the bed and two pop-out windows beside the bed (with fly screens and black-out blinds), alongside windows in the rear and sliding doors (with window covers)
– Fireangel carbon monoxide alarm

External features:
– Large Fiamma wind-out awning
– Underslung 20L LPG tank with an internal reader
– Underslung 100L fresh water tank and 80L gray water tank (with taps on the side for filling/emptying and internal level sensors)
– Heated tank blanket for the fresh water tank (with an internal switch)
– Wild peak A/T (AT3WA) LT225/75R16 mountain and snow rated tyres (with unused winter chains)
– Rear doors can open 180° (for those Instagram views from bed)

Power specs:
– 3 x 110W solar panels mounted to the roof
– 2 x 100Ah AGM leisure batteries
– Shore power charging (with hook up cable) and car alternator charging for the batteries
– Epever MPPT 100V solar charge controller
– Stirling Power 1800W inverter
– LCD control panel
– Three 12V double USB charging stations (two at the back of the van for scrolling before sleep)
– Four 240V power points with 5V USB charging ports
– 12V lights throughout on multiple circuits for independent switching

We have fully kitted Oaky out with all the bits and pieces needed and would happily pass on these used, but still very functional, items to the next owner: 2 toilets (composting and chemical), 2 camping chairs, 4 van ramps, jumper leads and tow rope, steering wheel lock, EU LPG gas adaptors (worth their weight in gold in Europe), rechargeable Karcher window vacuum, rechargeable Ryobi cordless vacuum, fire extinguisher and blanket, mandatory items for driving in the EU, fresh water hose with various fittings, 12V water pump, step ladder, step stool, various storage baskets, and counter utensil storage rack (see photos). You could literally pack your bags, turn the key and start your travels!

We have found Oaky to be a very reliable and comfortable home and she has many more adventures in her. Please get in touch with any questions!
