Very reliable, Manual, VW Crafter XL Wheelbase with a high top 2008 with full new MOT prior to sale.

We’re sad to be selling Swanson, however, due to an exciting change in career, vanlife is no longer practical for us. We are open to offers and because we’re quite far north, once a deposit is put down we are also open to meeting halfway to drop him off for his new home!

Swanson is an off-the-grid ready van and has been approved for Quirky Campers rentals pending a gas-safe certificate. We lived in him comfortably for a few months in January and February while exploring the southern coast of the UK.

Here’s a bit more info about the big lad himself:

2x keys with parts for a 3rd
4 x 100W Solar Panels
MPPT Solar Controller (the fancy kind!) – (generates 30% more power in partially shaded or overcast conditions)
1 x 230aH leisure battery
2 x large tinted windows and one slides open to allow more airflow

Electrics were installed last by the previous owner and are all accessible which makes maintenance easier as the walls don’t need to be taken down. This has since been double-checked by a qualified electrician.

1500w pure sine inverter with 2 USB ports and 2-24V plugs
45L Fridge (Currently hooked up to electrics but could be hooked up to gas instead)

Diesel Heater connected to main fuel tank and remote so you don’t have to get out of bed to turn it on (professionally installed)

Comes with an installed electric water pump but the tap needs replacing (should be a simple swap and we recommend getting one with a pull out head to be used as an outdoor shower- tap is positioned perfectly for this)

Moveable table (2 people can sit and eat or work at it)

Pending a gas-safe certificate, Quirky Campers has confirmed that Swanson meets their rental criteria, so he could easily pay for himself with a few years.

His split charge relay and 400W of solar power mean that he can charge your laptops, drone, cameras, phones, and more and still leave enough juice to kick on the diesel heater if you get chilly. During our time traveling around the UK in the winter, he would get up to 100% on the battery daily with both of these features. He’s been all around the south of the UK but now needs new adventure pals who can take him around Scotland, Europe, and more!

Recent Work done in the last 5 months:
– New tires were installed on all 4 wheels in September 2021 and a spare was added (paperwork available)
– Previous MOT advisories were inspected and fixed (paperwork available)
– New flywheel and clutch from official VW garage (1000 pounds of work – receipts can be provided)
– New battery as of October 2021
– New leisure battery as of October 2021
– New bed frame constructed by a professional carpenter in such a way that it could be easily raised to allow space for bike storage (you couldn’t sit up in the bed before so this was essential!)

Doesn’t meet DVLA standard for registration as a camper van due to not having an awning or sticker but he can still be (and currently is) insured as one. Swanson is just a stealthy dude. We’ve been able to stay in cities very comfortably and without disturbances.
