Talbot Express Motorhome
For Sale is our 1986 Talbot Express Motorhome. 23000 Miles on the clock and a whole load of life left in it! Ready for small adventures or full on van living. MOT June 2023.
Sadly after owning him for just over a year we have top part ways as we no longer have the time to use him to his fully potential.
We bought this in May 2021 and have had some fun adventures in it and lived in it for 4 months at the end of last year.
I will try and describe as much as possible here but can answer any questions you may have.
I will start from the outside in…
The general condition of the outside of the van is in decent condition for it’s age although has some surface rust on the cab, which I have been told is very normal for vans of this age and can easily be repaired (although I never got round to it). The underside of the van is rust free and in great and solid condition as the van was stored in a garage for 25 years of its life.
The outside of the main part of the van is in good condition but has a few bumps from the previous owner all of which you can see in the photos. It has two fully working awnings, a bike rack and an attachable tent in the roof box on top. As well as a cover for storage if not in use.
The engine runs really well although could probably do with fitting some new glow plugs soon which I have bought but not had time to fit. It just went through its MOT with one part that had to be fixed on the steering joint but otherwise has a couple of minor advisories.
The inside…
This van pretty much has everything you could think of that you’d need even in a house!
It has –
4 Berths
Captain chairs
3 Ring Hob
Gas oven
Gas Heater
Gas Fridge
Double Sink Working Water Pump
Fancy Red Velvet Lined Drinks Cabinet
Leisure battery built in to a switch board
Loads of lights
Shower with working boiler
Shutters on all windows
Mains hook up cable
Tables
Loads of Storage Cabinets
Wardrobe
And probably more things I have forgotten.
When we bought it it was a but crusty and old inside so we gave it a lick of paint and a new lino floor to brighten it up, which helped a lot in the winter months. Otherwise the rest of the interior is original. So it’s more or less a blank canvas for its next owner to customise as they would like.
There aren’t many things I can fault with this van. It is left hand drive but very easy to get used to driving. It fits in most car parking spaces and is easy to manoeuvre despite not having power steering. And even though it maxes out at 55/60MPH it will get you to where you want to go. It’s also pretty economic on fuel despite its size.
As I said earlier I am sad to part with it, but I am happy to be able to pass it on to someone else who can use not for some fun trips.
Many thanks and please feel free too ask any questions or arrange a viewing – After work is best for me.
The van is located in Falmouth, Cornwall.
As in the main description the only changes we have made is painting the run down old dark cupboards white to brighten it up and taking out the dates and fraying curtains. Otherwise all the appliances are factory fitted.
