I am looking to sell my 2008 swb Hiace with the 120 hp 2.5L D4D diesel engine (highest spec engine) with MOT until March next year. Engine pulls very strong and has no issues with hills and has alot of torque. In its life it has been used as a mobility vehicle but I have since removed the ramp and seats and replaced it with a fold down bed which gives floor space in the day. I have used it over the last few years to take trips around the UK, its a very capable van that has never let me down. Always starts first time.
MPG I couldn’t really advise, but I got between 500/550 to the tank on a recent trip to Cornwall cruising at 60MPH. The van is equipped with a 5 speed manual.

Has minor bumps and scuffs but nothing structurally wrong with the vehicle . Only issues are the rear washer does not work and drivers side window switch for passenger side only goes down. Rear door key barrel is also a bit crusty but works fine with central locking. These have not affected MOT.
Pictures may show an aftermarket stereo, this will be replaced with the factory Toyota radio when sold.

The van used to be a mobility van fitted with a wheelchair ramp and rear seats. These were all removed before the conversion. All windows are factory fitted windows. The existing carpet was cleaned and some custom heavy duty steel pucks were fitted to hold the floor in place as the ramp was removed.
I then removed the factory panels in the rear of the van including the sliding door and rear hatch and fitted insulation, the panels were then replaced with custom hard wood ones and carpeted. The bed was then fitted in the van with a cupboard beside it. I also created a makeshift roof lining with some old tapestries holding it up to the roof with staples.
The conversion is very simple and we have preferred the additional interior space instead of having cookers and sinks installed as well. We simply have used portable stoves.
The van has fitted a bed that is 6 foot 6 in length and 4 foot in width. The bed is made of wood and finished with varnish. The bed has folding functionality where it can be folded over to provide floor space in the sliding door area if needed. It works by folding the mattress in half and then folding the bed over itself. The bed can then be deployed by lifting the folded mattress up and folding the bed back out. Legs will automatically deploy from the bed so the folded out part is well supported. The bed has been built with care and is well engineered and finished. It easily supports the weight of 2 adults and makes no creaks. It also has plenty of storage. Low storage boxes can be placed under the bed and there is a cupboard alongside the bed which can be accessed from the sliding door, rear hatch and a lid on top. I have used it previously to store a surf board. The bed has a good finish around structural parts of the van like pillars to ensure there are no gaps in the bed around the van. There is also a fire extinguisher fitted to the rear and is accessible by opening the boot.
