VW Transporter T30 Highline TDI Bluemotion
We’re selling our VW camper as we’ve sadly outgrown it and need a bigger van. Below you’ll find all of the details of the camper conversion and the vans mechanical history. If you have any further questions, please feel free to get in touch.
Van history and mechanical overview
The van is a T30 Highline with a 2.0 diesel engine (140 bhp) and a 6 speed manual gearbox. It is the long wheelbase (LWB) version, measuring 5.3 metres long. The Highline is the top spec, so it comes with loads of features, including cruise control, automatic headlights, heated front windscreen, electric mirrors and electric windows. It has a 6.5” touchscreen with DAB radio and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as USB charger. It also has front fog lights with cornering function.
The van has had 2 previous owners, the first owner being Bosch who had the van for the first 4 years (until the end of 2021). The previous owner (who did the conversion) bought the van in early 2022 and we bought it in June 2024. It has been very well maintained with no expense spared – this is shown by the full and detailed service history, with extensive paperwork and receipts to prove.
The service record is as follows (with receipts):
• 14/11/2018 14,118 miles
• 28/11/2019 29,015 miles
• 17/12/2020 39,274 miles
• 14/01/2022 58,541 miles
• 09/01/2023 65,986 miles
• 11/09/2023 73,518 miles
• 30/05/2024 78,795 miles
• 23/06/2025 82,366 miles
The van has had loads of mechanical work done as well as the services, including:
• Cambelt and water pump changed in January 2023 (at 65,986 miles)
• Uprated to T32 rear springs
• 2 keys
• In April 2024, the gearbox was rebuilt (with new bearings) and a new 6th gear, a new clutch and a dual mass flywheel. This was over £2600 alone.
• It had a new van battery in October 2024.
During our ownership, we have replaced the original VW wheels with steel ‘swamper’ style steel wheels with Comforser off road tyres. These have only covered 4,000 miles.
We have all the previous MOT certificates (although this can be checked online). The current MOT is valid until January 2026, but we would be happy to put on a fresh MOT prior to sale.
It’s also worth mentioning that our van can seat 6 (belted), rather than 5, due to the RIB bed setup in the back. There is also an ISOFIX connection in the rear seats.
In terms of bodywork, the van is in excellent condition with no dents or scratches. As to be expected, there are small stone chips here and there, but nothing obvious. The underside is in excellent condition with no rust.
Campervan conversion
We were particularly drawn to the van for both its mechanical history and its interior. We were searching for something that wasn’t ‘off the shelf’ much like many Transporters and had a different feel to it. We’d describe it as a country cottage style interior, with wooden cupboards in a light grey/blue colour and lovely natural beech worktop. It was built and handmade by the previous owner. They also sourced gas sign off on the van too, which gave us peace of mind.
We are a family of 3 with 2 dogs (hypoallergenic and non-moulting), and we’ve had everything we could need in this van. It has converted us to the campervan lifestyle (previously we had caravans) and the only reason for selling it is that we want to build another version in a bigger base van.
Here’s a summary of what’s inside the van:
• Skyline Aurora Roof (in gel black) at a cost of £4000 (with receipt), with a front window and two side vents. Pop top bed with mattress that sleeps 2. This also has roof rails and roof bars.
• Bonded glass on each side of the van with sliding windows, as well as glazing in the rear doors
• Full Victron electrical set up, including smart charger (which charges when you drive), shunt (to monitor the voltage of the battery), solar controller, as well as a 1200 watt invertor. This can all be controlled via the Victron app.
• 360 watt solar panel on the roof
• 110AH leisure battery (under the driver’s seat)
• Full LED lights throughout with an under-cupboard strip light in the kitchen and spotlights in the ceiling
• Fold out RIB Altair bed (various tilt options for daybed style or flat). RIB beds are known for superior comfort vs a rock and roll bed.
• 4 USB chargers
• 230v mains hookup (located under the bonnet) with 4 plugs inside the van
• Dometic 50L fridge with freezer compartment (runs off 12v and mains)
• Combined dual gas hob and sink (cold water)
• Double swivel seat in the front with in-seat storage
• 8 cupboards (3 above the worktop, 3 wheeled units under the seats, tambour unit, long storage in the back of the van.)
• Detachable table in natural beech wood. This can be stored on the rear door when not in use.
• Waterproof windscreen cover
• Awning rail
• Kampa Cross Air awning, a great versatile space which can be gazebo set up or full awning. This has only been used twice.
• 10L fresh and grey waste containers.
• Gas bottle
• 15m EHU cable
• Diesel heater (which is fed directly from the main fuel tank rather than a separate tank inside the van).
We hope we’ve covered everything, but please feel free to get in touch with any questions or clarification.
