Vehicle Description

*Update, I went out at the weekend and the clock has just ticked over the 43,000 mile mark*

There are 2 things I can tell you about me…

1) I am 6ft 2in tall
2) I don’t like the thought of breaking down

When I bought this van, these 2 things were at the front of my mind when I was thinking about the conversion.

Firstly, I need a long bed. Something that was fitted width ways that I would have to curly up in would not be good enough!

Secondly, mechanically, I was looking to buy a low mileage van, which would be reliable and had been looked after by its former owners.

This one I chose, has had only one owner before me, never failed an MOT, and has not ever even had an advisory. It is an ex-fleet vehicle of Network Rail, and it seems to be well looked after – there are a couple of ‘daily check’ books, which show that it was inspected each day before being used. I have these from 20/10/2020 to 09/01/2022 & 25/01/2022 to 19/07/2023, and whilst I’ve not read every page, faults highlighted are mainly things like lightbulbs, and they appear to have been remedied as soon as they were identified.

Of course past performance doesn’t guarantee future results.
The last MOT was arranged by the independent dealer I bought it from rather than Network rail – so I have no reason to doubt the legitimacy of the tests.

The seats are clean and it appears to be a well looked after van.

The van has been converted to provide a comfortable living space. The Movano vans are the model bigger than the more commonly seen Vivaro. This van is more compatible to the Fiat Ducato / Peugeot Boxer / Citroen Relay / Renault Master in size.

The van has a large pull out sofa bed, which is a comfortable sleeping space for 2 people to stretch out. The 2 sides of the mattress fit snugly against each other so there isn’t any chance of falling down the gap between the two.

There are multiple areas for storage in the frame of the bed, as well as underneath it. There is also storage in an overhead locker.

Opposite the sofabed is a fixed fold down table.

There are 2x 115ah leisure batteries, which were purchased in February 2026, as well as a 400w solar system which uses a MPPT controller to keep the batteries topped up (2x 200w panels). The leisure batteries are also charged automatically via the alternator when the engine is running, which means in effect you would be able to use the appliances even if the leisure batteries were flat (or if there isn’t any sun for recharging).

There is a build in microwave (brand new), water boiler (Who goes away if they are not able to drink tea!?), as well as a sink with both hot and cold taps. The microwave is powered via a 2000w inverter, which has 2 socket spaces. As only one is in use, you’d be able to add an air fryer/other appliance should you wish.

There is also a brand new 30l Alpicool Fridge freezer (this has 2 compartments which have independent temperature control so you can use both sides as fridges, both sides as freezers, or one side of each – depending on how many ice lollies you think you can eat).

The interface / controller for the appliances is simple to use, and has a battery indicator level to give you some warning if you need to move the van out of the shade/run the engine in idle.

There is an awning bar on the side of the van (I don’t have an awning), and 3 bright external LED lights which are controlled via the touch screen pad in the drivers cab. These are great if you are sitting out on an evening, or just need some extra light whilst reversing / going round tight corners.

For the colder days there is a Webasto Air Top 2000 STC diesel heater, and an additional 400w inverter which is more than powerful enough to run an electric blanket.

There are 6 USB charging sockets and a 12v cigarette lighter power source (there is a cigarette lighter socket and multiple USB point in the drivers cab part too, although I prefer to take power from the leisure batteries rather than the ‘engine’ battery).

Although the alternator charges both the ‘leisure’ and the ‘engine’ batteries (solar only charges the leisure batteries), I am lead to believe there is some circuity which separates the two when it comes to discharge – ie leaving the microwave on won’t stop you from being able to start the engine. The cab has a touch screen display which shows the voltage of the ‘engine’ battery and the ‘leisure’ batteries. I’ve never had the leisure batteries get low enough for this to be a problem/noticed.

Inside the cab there are 3 seats, an on board weight sensor, a reversing camera and a a 7 inch touch screen satnav (I prefer to have a larger satnav screen).

Other brand new (unused) items include:

Boxio Toilet

10L Decathlon outdoor Pressure Solar Camping Shower & external shower tent

If you have any questions, please just ask, and you are more than welcome to come and view it.

I’m more than happy to send across a copy of the habitation certificate if you’d like to see that in more detail.

I applied to the DVLA to convert it to a ‘motor caravan’ on the V5 form, but as with most applications (or so google tells me) it came back as a “Van with side windows” due to the external appearance.

I’m based in Northamptonshire, just off the A14 (I’m fairly near the A1 & M1/M6 motorways).
