Vehicle Description

2014 Citroen Relay Campervan

The van was lovingly converted by myself with a professional electric installation to make the perfect off grid adventure van.

The van was converted in 2021 and hasn’t skipped a beat since, the van itself has been well looked after and maintained. Its been the perfect adventure vehicle for many happy trips over the years and I will be sad to see it go.

It’s a long spec list so please see below.

Vehicle

• 2014 Citroen Relay 2.2 HDI (EX MOD lots of Service History)
• Mileage: 116,800 (might increase slightly)
• MOT: December 2025

Prior to my ownership the vehicle was a MOD mess vehicle so has lots of service history and was maintained on a fleet basis. Since 2021 the van has been owned by myself and hasn’t skipped a beat. The van has been serviced every year and has been maintained meticulously. As an 11 year old vehicle it does have some cosmetic damage however it drives and runs really well and has been dependable throughout my ownership.

The Van has just had a fresh service and recently benefited from having all new discs and pads.

Conversion Description

The van has been lovingly converted by myself with a no compromise approach. Electric installation was done professionally for peace of mind. The van is fully setup to live comfortably off grid and sleep x3 people. The van needs to be viewed to be appreciated. Below is a spec list which Ive broken down into sections.

Interior/ Living Area

Interior conversion to a high standard in a more homely fashion to most off the peg conversions and to a much higher standard than your average rustic conversion.

• CNC Cut Custom Birch Ply Kitchen unit with Soft Close drawers and Ample Storeage
• Solid Wood Worktop (routed out underneath to save weight)
• Full size double bed with memory foam mattress (custom fabricated steel frame)
• Bench seat converts to a single bed
• Massive under bench storage
• Over bed lockers CNC cut birch ply
• Custom cut full length roof slats
• X2 Skylights complete with blinds and fly nets

Garage

Spacious Garage area for all your outdoor adventure gear easily houses x2 MTB’s paddle boards or whatever equipment you might want to carry. The garage also houses some of the electrics aswell as the onboard fresh water tank, gas Cyclinder and outdoor shower. In addition, the garage has the following

• Floor Anchor/ locking point, this is bolted through the floor of the van with shear nuts so can be removed
• Fresh water filling point
• X2 240v Sockets (can be used for charging items in the garage (e-bikes)
• Led Light Bar
• Extruded Aluminium Rail for accessory mounts. I used this for MTB fork mount and tie down eyelets

Electrics

The van has been setup to comfortably live off grid without the need for electric hookup. Also has electric hookup facitlity.

• 215 W Solar Panel (ample power for multiple days off grid all year)
• Durite Split Charger
• AC-DC Battery Charger
• DC-DC Battery charger
• Trickle Charger for vehicle battery
• X2 115AH Leisure Batteries
• 240V External Hook Up point
• 1000W IconicaInverter
• Dometic CRX 50 Fridge Freezer
• X2 240v sockets kitchen with 12V USB (inverter powered)
• X2 12V USB Charger
• X1 LED Light bar Garage
• X6 Spotlights for living area (split switches)

Gas

• Gas Locker with External Vent
• Gas powered outdoor shower instant hot water mounted in garage
• Dual Burner Gas Hob

Heating

• Diesel Heater (Chinese) this is plumbed directly into the fuel tank

Water

• On board 70L fresh water tank which is mounted in the garage (cant freeze)
• Shurflo trail master pump includes filter
• Fiamma Expansion Chamber
• Full size sink with multi head/hose mixer tap
• Garage mounted outdoor shower provides instant hot water
• 15L Under-sink Grey Water container

Insulation

I went all in on insulation for this conversion and what a difference it makes

• Dodo Mat Sound insulation
• 25mm PIR board Floor + Roof
• 50 + 75mm PIR board walls + doors
• Cavities filled with recycled plastic bottle lambs wool alternative
• Foil Bubble wrap vapour barrier

Suspension

The standard single leaf spring supplied on this chassis is not sufficient for a full on campervan conversion especially when full loaded and over 3T gross weight. I fitted heavy duty dual leaf springs at the rear which makes a massive difference to handling when fully loaded. This is something pretty much all Boxer/Relay/Ducato conversions overlook.

Beds Description

Fixed Double Bed with Memory Foam mattress on custom steel frame.

Bench Seat converts into single bed.
