Peugeot Boxer - Off-grid stealth camper. MOT Jan 2024 - Open to sensible offers

Conversion was done by the last owner but 1. (Previous owners to us were from New Zealand and bought the van as a short term solution for their trip around Europe. They sold it as the end of their 3 month stay to us via quirky campers.). It is basic, but nice and functional.

The van is fully insulated (floor, wall and ceiling) and suitable for use all year round.

Starting at the front, there is a blackout curtain between the cab and camper – ideal for stealth camping being able to hop between the cab and living space easily.

In the camper there is a sofa that pulls out to be the bed. Lot’s of storage underneath. This is also where the 2 x 100Ah leisure batteries are stored. We also had a 2Kw Lavaner Pro diesel heater fitted in Autumn 2022. This si very effective and makes the van very cosy. The control panel is mounted on the wall and also has a remote control to turn it on from the bed in the morning!

There is a table on an adjustable arm that can be moved in and out as required, or can be removed to make some more room. A cupboard stores the portable toilet – or if not needed, the cupboard is handy for shoes, bike helmets etc.

The kitchen is constructed from standard kitchen units and work top. One cupboard stores the inverter, solar panel controller, battery charger, 12v fuses and 240v breakers. This is also useful for storing a small suitcase or laptop bag. The corner cupboard has loads of storage – we use storage boxes and keep our food supplies here. At the back of the van is a 2 burner gas hob with cover and sink with electric cold water tap.

As the units are full size, we have found they twist slightly after a while due to movements in the van, which can cause the doors to not lock shut properly. This is easily fixed by adjusting the hinges – a few twists of the screwdriver to realign and all sorted. Again, not a big issue but we want to be honest about the things that aren’t perfect so there are no surprises!

Under the hob is fresh water and grey water storage. Under the sink is a fridge that can run from 240v or 12v. The rear corner of the van is a good storage space. We have stacked storage boxes with a cargo net to hold them in. Previous own used it to hang clothes. The Calor gas bottle is also stored in a wooden box at the bottom of this rear corner and can be refilled via the self-refillable valve on the outside of the van. This is especially handy at the moment where pre filled Calor gas supplies are hard to source!

The ceiling has 2 skylights and extractor fans. We have made simple black out covers stuck with velcro – good for bright summer mornings!

Down one side of the van is shelving that runs the length, with a second level of shelving over the kitchen. This provides lots of storage for pans, crockery and clothes etc. There is more storage above the cab – good for coats, towels and other bulky items.

The rear doors both open to make it a lovely cooking experience on a sunny day! There is space under the kitchen units access from the back doors for some tools and spare wheel jacks etc. (spare wheel included stored under the van). We think there is a lot of storage space – which has been handy for us as we have lived in the van. There is a small amount of storage in the boxing around the rear wheel arch, and the top of this boxing can be used to even more storage. In the summer, with the help of a cargo net we stored a friends tent, bike kit and luggage over the wheel arch and didn’t impact on our living space. Also a good place to store a camping table and chairs to sit outside.

There is a control panel on the side of the kitchen units that turns on lights, fairy lights, USB socket and 12v socket. Also includes voltmeter to show leisure batter status. The solar panel is 100w i think so not amazing but enough to trickle charge the leisure battery, and in the height of summer was very effective to keep batteries charged.

The van also has a split relay so the leisure batteries charge when driving. 240v Electric hookup power also available with 3x 240v sockets (1 fixed, 2 on an extension lead). Other items included are fire extinguisher, fire blanket, carbon monoxide alarm, powerful ceiling mounted electric fan (great in the hot french summer!) and wall mounted storage pockets.

There are various lights including one main, fairy lights, spot lights under shelves and 2 x reading lights over the sofa/bed. The USB ports can be used to plug in additional lights also.

The cab has a reversing camera radio with USB/iphone connection and bluetooth inputs. Radio also includes usb charge port – handy for keeping the phone charged when using google maps on long trips. Cab also has a 2 x 12v ports if you wanted to get additional fans or USB adaptors etc.

The interior has been painted and decorated to make it feel homely and quirky, but easily modified if you want to put your own mark on it!
