Renault Trafic L2H1
Engine – 1.6 dCi 1598cc
Fuel type – Diesel
6 Gears
Average 40MPG – depending on how you drive… Comes with an eco-mode button that boosts motorway efficiency by a good amount.
Limited 70MPH – I didn’t get this disengaged as it acts as great cruise control for long trips – put your foot down and sit at 68MPH comfortably.
Bodywork is in good condition, originally this van was owned by plumbers but they took pretty good care of it. There are a few spots where it could do with TLC, but nothing majorly obvious.
MOT date March 17th – I am getting this fully serviced and MOT’d in the first week of march – it will be getting brand new brakes.
Has a timing chain instead of a cam belt, lasts far longer and is in good condition.
I spent roughly 5 months of solid work converting on this camper.
As I was converting it I would go an use it for a weekend trip or day away to test out each new thing, there was a lot of refining and adjusting so it now works perfectly for what I wanted – a van my partner and I could chuck stuff in and get away for a weekend or week of surfing, climbing or adventuring with minimal hassle at any time of the year.
This van is great in the summer where you feel like you have your own little beach shack to enjoy the views, and in the winter a super cosy escape from the cold and rain!
The interior is made out of reclaimed wood, I am an environmentally conscious person and wanted the van’s vibe and build to reflect this.
The walls and doors are finished in pine pallets that I reclaimed from a friend’s home renovation, and the cupboard interiors are made from birch plywood – reclaimed from a friend who runs a cabinet workshop, they had lots of excess from a job and let me claim it for the build.
I used a combination of Osmo oil and danish oil to finish the wood to provide different tones inside.
For a concise summary of features :
Wall, floor and roof insulation with sound dampening – Dodo-Fleece was used, great in winter and summer.
Two side windows with covers. – professionally fitted
Thermal cab window covers.
120 amp hour battery with capacity to easily upgrade if wanted.
150W Xplorer German Cell Solar Panel
Smart solar controller, battery health monitor and split charge relay. (ABSO DMT 1250) Turn on and forget all about it – it does all the work for you!
Battery monitor screen for easy checking.
6 x LED down lights
LED strip above the kitchen
Cosy Fairy lights
2 x USB charger
Dometic 21 litre fridge. Can also be used as a day cool box.
4.5 kg Butane tank in a secure gas locker.
Two hob gas burner with in-built sink.
Oak sideboard with fold up table.
20 Litre water storage with 13L grey water tank.
HS-2000 heater with thermostat control – fuelled by butane tank. This thing is a monster, heats the whole van up seriously quickly and keeps it at a consistent temperature. it is quiet too so it doesn’t disturb your sleep if you leave it on at night.
Fire extinguisher and carbon monoxide + dioxide alarm.
Absolutely tons of storage – full cabinet with day-bag storage, lined drawers for glass bottles, (in my case rum!), shelves sized for cooking pans, utensils, tins and pasta, with under bed storage and under passenger chair storage.
It even comes comes with pillow, bedsheets and duvets!
I put a lot of love and effort into this conversion, and want to pass it on to someone who will love it just as much as I – sadly my change of career has limited the amount i can get out in it, and i want for it to have a happy life bringing people joy and adventure, not sitting on my drive unused.
Bed is a pullout sofa system – it can be set up as a sofa, L shaped sofa, or a double bed. I am a 6ft4 adult and have plenty of room with my partner. Perfect spooning size!
Bed is an easy pullout system with custom made mattress to fit, and has locking system for when driving to prevent slide out.
