Ford Transit LWB
2011 Ford Transit fully off grid adventure van. 10 months MOT
Location: Oswestry SY11
Price: £12,500
This is an extremely reliable van that I converted myself last year, and has taken me and my gear all around Europe – as far as Istanbul – competing in triathlon events in different countries. The van is extremely solid and mechanically sound, and the conversion is to a high standard (This is my 5th van conversion)
There is also a large folder of service history with the van.
The conversion features the following:
Fully insulated with polystyrene and foil.
Fixed, extra long double bed (2 metres long)
Fixed shower and drying room
Large sink and mixer tap
Twin ring gas hob
300ah of batteries (3x100ah batteries)
100w solar panel
3000w continuous pure sine inverter
Household sockets
Electric hookup
Diesel night heater
Chemical toilet
Fridge
15l electric hot water tank
65l total fresh water storage
Swivel seats
Large garage area at the rear with full height storage for a bicycle (without having to take the wheels off!)
Energy efficient LED lighting
The base van is a 2011 2.4 RWD Transit, 200,000 miles, with a lot of service history as has been mentioned. Ultra reliable van, that looks tidy enough despite having some cosmetic marks on the bodywork. Brand new alloys and all terrain tyres worth £1k.
Before I owned the van, it was used by a couple to ferry their belongings to and from France as they moved there. So it’s not a beat up ex builders van. Having spent so much of its life in a dry climate the van suffers from no rot whatsoever. In fact when I last MoTd the van, the tester said he had never seen a Transit like it!
This has been a great van for me, I have only ever used it off grid, even though the electric hookup option is there, and it has always provided me with all power I need for my laptop, tools, and the water heater for a hot shower every day.
Van can be driven away and is ready to use
