2004 Volkswagen Transporter T5 LWB Camper Van (Wilbur)
Seats 7 (including 2 removable seats), 4 berth
We bought this van in 2011 and converted it – in its previous life it was a joiner’s van and then a carpet fitter’s van. We converted it aiming to keep it as “factory” as possible without adding any “bling” – it’s not lowered, it’s not remapped, it’s got factory 16” wheels and we’ve looked after it. It’s mileage is mainly motorway and it’s not spent it’s life dragging a caravan or heavy trailer. Comes complete with engineer’s report from conversion and fitting of rear seats.
• Vamoose pop-top roof and bed
• Reimo multi-rail awning rail
• Roof rails
• Smartbeds Evo “rock and roll” bed (M1 tested)
• Waeco compressor fridge
• Twin gas hob
• Sink
• Propex gas heater
• Kiravans twin cab seat swivel
• Leather seats throughout
• Seating configuration: driver + twin, 2 x sliding and removable Caravelle seats (with Isofix) on rails, 2 on bed seat
• Leisure battery (replaced 2024) with split charge system and hook up.
• Insulated and carpet lined throughout with blackout curtains for all windows
• Hand built birch ply and formica units
• Caravelle sliding table
Drives as it should, starts first time, doesn’t smoke or burn oil (it does use a little which is normal for these engines at this age), is clean and tidy under the bonnet, no knocks, noises or bumps and will do an unloaded motorway run at 40+ mpg. We’ve looked after it, replaced what’s needed replacing and serviced it on time at home – lots of receipts etc. but no stamped logbook if that’s what’s you’re after. It’s a van with 200k+ miles and is 21 years old and the conversion is 13 years old – it will always need some ongoing maintenance but, if looked after, will keep going for many more years and miles. Bodywork is OK – some light marks and dinks but is tidy overall for its age with no rust patches or major dents or scratches. Paintwork on roof could do with being redone or wrapped but doesn’t really effect anything. Comes with 2 transponder/remote keys and 2 “dumb” surf keys.
It’s ready to go – just add fuel and adventure!
Viewing in Bamford Derbyshire – we’re 15 mins walk from Bamford train station.
