VW Transporter T4
1993, 1.9l diesel, 5 gears. Starts first time and has just brought us on an 8 hour trip to Cornwall and back with no problems at all. Has had a lot of work carried out by previous owners including welding underneath, new brake pipes, front discs and pads and caliber, exhaust, fan belt, new clutch, timing belt, shock absorbers, tyres. Have paperwork for all this, and the recent service history. 6 months left on MOT with no advisories.
I believe when the van was first converted about ten years ago it had a lot of body work done as it’s in pretty good shape for the age. The previous owners had it wrapped which we had removed, this unfortunately has peeled off some paintwork which we haven’t had time (or the weather when we’ve not been away in her) to repair. There was also a patch of filler that came off which we ground back to bare metal, kurusted, filled and primed but haven’t had time to spray it properly. Put a quick layer of spraypaint on to protect but this needs sanded and going over again.
The only other patch of rust worth mentioning is round the passenger side wheel arch, and the sill of the door which looks like it’s been previously repaired and needs making good again. All in all surprisingly good for a 30year old van, she feels really solid. Can send photos via WhatsApp of all these.
Originally converted by Vanimals about 10years ago.
4 belted seats with swivel passenger seat.
Removable folding dining table.
New leisure battery and mains hook up with 2 x 3pin sockets.
LED lights under the worktop and also two lights on the ceiling.
Rear worktop and cupboards containing 2 way fridge (which runs off gas or mains), double gas hob and sink. We found that there was plenty of storage. Also a vented cupboard in the back with the gas bottle.
Van is carpet lined throughout and well insulated. It has an eberspacher diesel heater which is not currently working – the error codes on the control panel suggest that it might be the panel itself that needs replacing. It goes on, the diesel pumps but it only blows cold air. We bought a small electric heater but haven’t needed it as it’s been really cosy.
There is a small double rock and roll bed which we found pretty comfortable, and room in the pop top for another adult / two children. We’ve just reproofed this canvas and resealed around it too.
She has fitted blackout curtains throughout, and tinted privacy glass. We’ll also include the thermal screens for windows and the pop top which have been great at regulating the temperature.
We’ve had a new altro wood effect floor professionally fitted, and any spots of rust were ground back and treated in the process – I don’t believe there was much there though.
There is a railing installed for an awning. We have a Olpro Breeze Uno driveway awning which is in great condition which we can include as extra. It’s been great to have as it gives us more storage and living space.
We’ve really enjoyed the trips we’ve had in Luna, and will be sad to see her go but its become apparent that we really need a bigger van with more space for us and our two dogs.
