Hi, Meet Mango!
Anyone who is even slightly interested in van-life has had sparkles in their eyes as they drive past a classic VW van, wondering where it has been or what adventure it’s about to go on.

Let’s just say this one is definitely a head turner. Mango has been painted in a dreamy VW classic Mango Green on the outside and has been fitted out to suit all types of travellers. Perfect for the weekend adventurers, the wave seekers or even those who want to explore a little further afield. This size vehicle also allows it to be a great daily runner as it fits in a regular parking spot and at 2.15m she fits under many height restricted car parks.
The Little Rebel Conversions designed and kitted out this beautiful van just 2 years ago. Great design is always at the forefront of their builds. They optimised the layout with plenty of storage, thoughtful space saving features and practical answers to every travellers’ needs, and also ensured a unique and beautiful interior. Mango is a combination of terracotta, sage green and a crisp white with accents of black and brass along with natural textured & patterned fabrics, to create this fun, fresh interior. She is one of the most stylish campers on the road!
The front cab is also in great condition, with original fabric seats that have minimal wear and tear and a reupholstered headlining to better fit the overall feel of the van. The original CD player has been kept, and it even comes with a greatest hits CD from the 60s, could it get any better?!
*How does the seating/sleeping situation work?
During the day the L shaped banquette is a great hang out living room, all the furniture was built low throughout to create this feeling of spaciousness and gives you the perfect spot anywhere you sit in the van for gazing at the view out of the large unobstructed back window or from the sliding side door, wherever you park there’s always a view to be had!
If this isn’t enough view for you then head on up to the roof deck where there is plenty of space to spread out and take in your surroundings.
Back in the lounge now, there is a a Laguna style removable table to allow for indoor dining on those rainy days, or more intense poker nights with your travel mates (up to 4/5 people – I’ve enjoyed a few of these!). Alternatively the 360 degree function makes for a perfect remote office desk for those who work online.
At night the sofa easily pulls out into a cosy bed (120x180cm) in about 15 seconds and creates a perfect 2 person cocoon, which feels homely, comfortable and safe.
You’ll also find 2 Mini Heki DOMETIC skylights placed directly above both ends of the bed which is great for ventilation and airflow, but also perfect for some stargazing. These both are fitted with thermal blackout blinds and retractable mosquito nets! For extra coziness there are light filtering curtains at the back of the van and also just behind the seats to the front cab which provide complete privacy from the outside as well as a more comfortable nights sleep.
*How do you power all your electrical stuff in Mango?
There is a portable, easy to use and charge, all in one Jackery 500 portable Solar Generator which provides for all your electricity needs with clean energy .

For those unfamiliar with this technology:
-500W Lithuim battery: much more lightweight than your average AGM or Gel batteries, has a much longer lifespan and is the most eco friendly battery type to recycle
-Pure Sinus Wave integrated 240v inverter – 500w (1000w surge): meaning you can charge most of your household appliances just like you would at home. From your laptop, phone, to your mini blender or your projector for movie nights.
-100W Monocrystalline Solar Panel: this foldable/portable piece of kit will charge your battery on the go in the less than 10hrs (from 0 to 100%) on those sunny days, which is great for these longer road trips off the grid.
-integrated MPPT charge controller: which allows you to plug in the Solar Panel worry-free. It will regulate your Solar Charge to protect your battery and your devices.
-3 different ways of recharging your generator: solar panel as discussed above, from a 240v outlet at home or while driving in the cigarette lighter outlet. Which should give you plenty of options to never run out of power!
Ultimately, the Jackery gives durability, portability, ease of use, dependable power and the fact that your energy source is not only confined to your vehicle. It provides complete freedom, and means you ever need to need an electrical hook up on camping sites, and can totally recharge on the next leg of your journey.
If you’re interested in a more detailed description or the appliances run time, please check out the company’s website: jackery.co.uk under “Solar Generator 500”.
Mango also has magnetic detachable , rechargeable lighting. There are 2 overhead Led lights with 3 different light ‘temperature’ settings which can be controlled via remote or just by tapping the side. There is also a beautiful beech wood ambient bedside light which has a motion sensor setting or can be switched on manually from the top which creates the perfect evening glow.
Both types of lights can be recharged using a USB as and when needed!
*How do you cook your favourite meals or make your morning coffee?
Mango is lucky enough to have a tailgate boot which makes for the perfect cover for a predominantly outdoor kitchen. This spacious kitchen has plenty of storage for dry foodstuffs, tableware, foldable camping chairs, outdoor rugs etc etc… it also has a double ring gas hob (with removable gas cartridges for ease of use throughout Europe), a 22 litre fridge that has the ability to even make ice cubes! The ‘wine cellar’ provides a fully insulated cupboard with space for 4 bottles of wine at a time.
There is also a 12 litre water tank that can be easily removed and refilled, a pop out washing up bowl with drying rack to keep on top of those dirty dishes, a cutlery drawer and a one off, custom painted pull out table so that you can eat your meals alfresco under the cover of your tailgate boot. This maximises the living space in the van without compromising on the cooking experience.
*So what’s the deal with the roofdeck?
Mango was built with adventurers in mind, and untaps the potential at the top of this van. There is plenty of space to set up a rooftop picnic, watch bands at a festival, or lay and watch the stars go by. The deck itself bypasses the skylights so it can still be used for transporting surfboards, paddle boards or anything else you want! To get access to the roof deck there is a neat little telescopic ladder that lives behind the driver’s seat that can be easily whipped out and used.
*Where do you put all of your stuff?
There is literally tonnes of storage in Mango! At the entrance there is a shoe cupboard, with more or less enough space for 4 pairs of shoes (depends how big your feet are), 2 huge drawers and an extra cupboard for your sheets/clothes/larger items under the sofa, large hidden storage behind the cab, a smaller cupboard next to the wheel arch for your longer items, an alcove with shelving and at the back, excluding the kitchen storage there are 2 large wells at either side which a perfect for storing camping chairs/towels/outdoor rug etc.
*Extras
Mango has been insulated with 19mm Armaflex for thermal insulation throughout as well as soundproofed with Dodomat. As an added safety feature, the van comes with a built-in alarm system, a wheel lock and a European Driving Kit.
The tailgate awning provides you with an optional extra covered space for those rainy days, or an extra bedroom area for travelling guests. Its big enough to house a double blow up mattress, with its own windows and zip-up door. It can be put up in a matter of minutes.
How does she run?
Mango was bought as a plain white panel van by the Little Rebel Conversions. They bought her from someone who had kept it really neat, and maybe more importantly in dry storage her whole life. This meant very minimal rust and absolutely no body work needed. The bits of rust found has been fully treated before the coach enamel paint job was carried out. This was a main reason for me purchasing her, and the body work is still fantastic for a van of this age. She sailed through her recent MOT with no essential works, and I enjoyed 2 weeks last summer taking her all round Scotlands’ islands and highlands with absolutely no problem. She has recently had a new battery, and starts like a dream.
All the paperwork for the works done is provided for your piece of mind. We’re told these vans tend to return what you give them… if you look after them, they will in turn look after you, and you can tell this T4 is one of the few lucky ones.
My reason for selling is that I just don’t have as much time as I’d hoped to make the most of this beautiful camper sadly! I have a new business that has taken off and keeps me too busy just now for the adventures I’d hoped for. So Mango has been under used for 2 years, but kept in pristine shape and is ready to make her new owners very happy out on the road! I’ve kept her ticking over and in great working order. The design and layout is so thoughtfully done, making adventures in Mango a complete pleasure. I just want someone with more time to feel the benefit of this fantastic, versatile camper. I can share a video tour on request.
