For Sale: Gino de Camper

For sale is my Long Wheel Base Mercedes Sprinter (2012) campervan conversion that I’m unfortunately having to sell as I’ve just had twins and my life looks very different now! The van is ready for off grid camping, using primarily solar power, with a voltage sensitive relay for extra charging while the van is driving.

Most of the items in the photos are included; kettle, plates, pots and pans, cutlery, mattress, sofa cushions, gazebo – he’s ready for an adventure!

Main Features:

– Full double bed, length ways
– The sofa pulls out to be a second smaller double bed
– The sofa also has 3 seatbelts fitted (by a professional), taking the total to 6 seatbelts
– 295W Solar Panel
– Bluetooth Controlled Victron Electrical System (you can see battery life & solar panel engagement from your phone)
– 250Ah AGM Leisure Batteries
– Diesel Heater with timer and remote for year round camping
– Huge 95L Water Tank
– 125L underslung waste/grey water tank
– Remote Controlled Roof Vent
– Main Spotlights & separate bedside low lighting
– Fully custom built plywood Kitchen
– LPG Gas Double Hob
– 3x Double USB sockets
– 12V 78L Dometic Fridge
– Rear Parking Camera
– Stowaway Table
– Insulating windscreen cover
– Deadlocks installed on sliding door and rear doors.

Instead of an awning I opted for a black Gala Tent gazebo (3.5x6m) so you have more choice on positioning relative to the van. The carry case fits perfectly in the boot area and it can be assembled in under ten mins. There is still 3 years left on the warrenty.

The van is fully insulated with a combination of insulation board and recycled plastic bottle wool, then finished off with a vapour barrier. The roof vent can be controlled by remote control and can either suck air in or blow air out.

The electrical system comprises of two 125Ah AGM leisure batteries charged via the solar panel on the roof and also a voltage sensitive relay for extra charging while the van is driving. Should there be no sun, just drive for an hour or so to top up the batteries. The system powers a variety of 12V appliances such as a diesel heater, fridge, spotlights, fairy lights, water pump, and three double USB outlets for charging phones, fans, extra lighting etc.

The van was a self-build, however I have had a professional check over the electrical and gas systems to ensure they are well designed and safe to use.

The van includes a full custom plywood kitchen with double hob and sink. The tap on the sink pulls out to use as an outdoor shower through the side door. There is ample overhead storage, a cupboard the length of the bed and a large drawer under the sofa.

The bed has a double mattress and is oriented length ways so it isn’t cramped like the typical width ways setup. We have designed macrame netting to stop the pillows falling down the small gap by the back doors.

The rear of the van houses a 95L water tank with a 125L grey water tank underneath. Gas is supplied by a campinggaz refillable canister which can be refilled/replaced approx every 6 months from a wide range of retailers/petrol stations.

The van has been serviced and well maintained throughout its life, and recently had a new prop shaft (£3000) along with its service and 12 month MOT (no advisories). The mileage is currently 134,000 which is pretty rare for a sprinter of this age.

Also included is an Apple AirTag, so if he gets stolen you can track it on Find My iPhone.

The small negative section:

Due to my twins coming early there are a couple of small outstanding jobs to fully compete the van. The inside of the sliding door could do with the carpet glueing down. It’s currently duct taped on!

The area behind the driver could do with covering, either with some cladding or material.

The sofa has foam cut to size but we never got around to making covers for it, we just covered them in throws and blankets. We bought the foam from a shop who advised us it’s the perfect density for both sleeping or sitting on – it wasn’t cheap! A simple job for the right person.

Finally, I reversed into a tree while parking since I took the photos, so the left back door has a dent the size of a football at the top. Luckily there is no damage to the inside of the van.

I’m really sad to have to part ways with the van, as I put so much care and attention into converting it into an off grid mobile home. I hope the new owners(s) can take it on the sorts of adventures it was built for!

For viewings/test drives we’re based in London SW16 1QG.
