Detailed Information
Vehicle Description

I will be adding information as I am able to find it. There is quite a lot to compile.

As a couple, we have lived and worked in this van for 6 months whilst travelling France to find a place to live. We have now found our place and we are selling the van to help fund our new house. If we did not need to sell Van Hausin we would not – we simply need the money. But we love this van and have had the most incredible adventure in it. We hope his next owners get half as much joy!

Conversion Description

The long wheelbase version of the Sprinter offers a lot of internal space which is why it has been possible to put in a full-size fixed double bed, a dining (or working) / seating area and a kitchen. There is also a huge “garage” area under the bed accessible by the back doors. This conversion is completely off-grid and includes solar power, running water, an outdoor shower and a toilet. A gas bottle supplies a fitted heater, the cooker, hob, grill and the shower water heater.

BEDROOM
The bed is a full size double, with a memory foam mattress. There is ample storage along the left-hand side of the bed for clothes, books, toiletries etc., and the bed has been installed at such a height that a full-grown adult can sit up without bashing his or her head.

DINING/WORK AREA
The seating area is perfect for dining for up to 4 people, or allowing 2 people to work on laptops comfortably. The table also drops down to allow the seating area to become a second sleeping area which is not quite a double but which could accommodate 2 children easily (or a single adult diagonally). There is more storage under the seats and under the “foot” of the bed.

A Propex Heatsource HS2000 Heater has been installed under the offside seat which runs on propane gas. Perfect for those chilly mornings or cosy evenings!

KITCHEN
The kitchen area comprises a sink with running and waste water provided by 25L bottles, a 4500 Range LPG Cooker / Double Hob / Grill and a Dometix CRX 65 Fridge / Freezer. There is also plenty of cupboard space, a kitchen drawer, plenty of shelving and underslung jar storage. Whilst we’re talking about the sink – a quick note about the 25L bottles: we find these incredibly versatile. At first we were jealous of the posh motorhomes that we saw rocking up with their hose attachments and automatic refill pumps, but after a few weeks of off-grid living, we realised our set up is much more flexible. We don’t need to move the van to fill up or empty grey water, we simply take the bottles and walk to the tap. We once bought twenty-five 1L bottles at a supermarket for 0.45€ each to top up our drinking water!

GARAGE
The area under the bed is a huge storage area, but also contains the fuse box for mains power, a Camplux BW422 16L Tankless Propane Gas Hot Water Heater (the shower) and the gas locker which contains the Propane Gas bottle which servers the cooker, hob, heater and shower.

ELECTRICS
The electrical system is a combination of solar and a traditional electrical inlet. The solar consists of 3 x Renogy 100 Watt 12 Volt panels on the roof which supply more than enough energy for the fridge, lights, phone chargers etc. On long sunny days these will even power 2 laptops for most of the day. On grey days, it is usually necessary to plug in. We subsidised our solar energy with 2 generators – a solar which stored electricity for weeks and a petrol generator. These are not included in the sale, but we can confirm that plugging the van in to one of these generators works perfectly. If you’re going to spend time in campsites, of course, you can simply plug in to the mains!

The electrical system consists of 2 x 110aH SuperBatt “house” batteries, a Victron Energy Solar Charge Controller, a DURITE Voltage Sensing Relay for charging the batteries and a 1000W Pure Sine Wave Power Converter. The system can be monitored with the Victron Energy app which will work on any SmartPhone and monitors the system via BlueTooth.

Beds Description

1 x full size standard double mattress.
