Mercedes Sprinter 311 LWB
Pumbaa is a 2013 Mercedes Sprinter with a 2.1L diesel engine and 6-speed manual gearbox. He has a full service history, has been regularly MOTed throughout his life, and drives beautifully — we’ve always made sure everything was kept in tip-top shape, whatever it took. We’ve owned him for five years, during which he spent four years on the Quirky Campers rental fleet, meaning he’s been looked after to a professional standard, not just a personal one. Recently, we fitted him with new all-terrain tyres, so he’s ready to tackle whatever roads (or lack thereof) his next owner has in mind.
Selling Pumbaa is genuinely bittersweet — if it weren’t for our move abroad, he wouldn’t be for sale. He’s been more than a van to us, and after everything we’ve shared together, letting him go is no small thing. But we take comfort knowing he’s ready for his next chapter, and we hope he finds owners who’ll love him as much as we have. For anyone looking to rent him out, our established Quirky Campers listing comes with the van, so you’d be stepping into a ready-made income stream from day one.
Pumbaa has lived many lives. He started out as a working van before being lovingly converted by his previous owners — and since 2021, he’s reliably carried us and countless Quirky Campers adventurers across Europe and back. The Norwegian Fjords, the Scottish Highlands, the French Alps, Cornish beaches, the Italian Apennines, the wild coast of Ireland — Pumbaa has seen them all, and he’s got the stories to prove it. Last year, after years of full-on adventures and having learned every quirk of his conversion inside out, we gave him a proper renovation — a fresh new look and a more practical layout, worthy of everything he’s already been through, and everything still ahead of him.
Seating
Two belted seats up front, plus generous seating in the back for up to four or five people to socialise and eat together comfortably.
Electrical
Pumbaa runs on a robust 300Ah lithium battery bank paired with a 3000W inverter, giving you both 12V and 240V outlets throughout. 400W of rooftop solar does most of the heavy lifting, with a 60A battery-to-battery charger keeping things topped up on the move and shore power hookup available for campsite stays. The result: true off-grid capability for extended periods, as long as the sun’s out or you’re covering a bit of ground each day.
Kitchen
A fully equipped kitchen with a two-burner induction hob, deep sink with hot and filtered drinking water, under-counter fridge, Nespresso machine, and electric kettle. An outdoor camping stove with grill is also included — great for al fresco cooking and handy for saving battery when you’re not moving much. Everything you need is on board: crockery, glassware, and cookware for four, a full knife set, utensils, and pantry staples including coffee, tea, sugar, salt and olive oil.
Water & Bathroom
A 70-litre freshwater tank and 52-litre grey water tank are fitted beneath the van, feeding a kitchen sink, a 10-litre electric water heater, and an indoor shower. Filtered drinking water comes straight from a dedicated tap. The fully enclosed bathroom is equipped with an Air Head urine-diverting composting toilet, a shower, and a roof vent.
Entertainment & Connectivity
A projector, screen, and Google Chromecast make for a proper movie night wherever you are. A 4G router with external antenna keeps you connected on the road — if you want to be.
Heating
A diesel heater keeps Pumbaa warm and cosy when the temperature drops.
Cab & Extras
The cab is separated from the living area by a sliding door, keeping things well-insulated and pet-friendly — great for adventurous four-legged co-pilots. Inside the cab, an Android touchscreen with SatNav, Spotify integration, and a reversing camera makes every drive that bit easier.
Pumbaa sleeps two people comfortably in a large king-size bed that can be converted to a dinette area during the day.
