We have just returned from a 4000 mile long 6 week trip through Europe with the kids, from the Swiss alps, to the French alps, racing down the autobahns to the lakes of Italy. The van was faultless.
Intro
This is a 2020 Vauxhall Movano L3H2 with 30,000 miles on the clock (will go up). It is a self-build camper completed over the last several months prior to leaving, everything is brand new. It has four seatbelts, two at the front and two behind, the two seats in the middle are from a Ford Tourneo and can be removed if you wanted.
Please read the full add as I have listed as much as I can. Before you read on, I built this for our wants and needs so the internal design may not be for you, BUT, I built it so everything could be easily taken out, especially the kids seats and the storage around them. The design may not be for you but there is no van on here for this money with the high spec fittings and you could simply refit or do what you want with.
I have not changed it to a campervan with DVLA, but it is down as that with the insurance for valuation.
I am also including a lot of extras so you could literally just get in and go.
The conversion
High spec van with outstanding equipment levels using the very best with no compromise, I built it with the intention of making it the very best to last for many years.
Both front chairs swivel around with a removable table in the middle. The two rear seats also have their own swivel tables. There is a Maxxair dome van fitted on the side above the cooker. There is lots of storage along the van, around the chairs and around the top beds. On the side of the van as well as the fan is the inlet for the water, the outlet for the gas BBQ, outlet for the Truma and electric hook up for campsites. I have created lots of storage in the back utilising the space under the beds and the rear doors. I have also fitted Unistrut’s on the rear doors that hold a large DAKA lockable storage box. (I did not want to have any holes in the roof).
Electrics are two 100amp FOGSTAR Lithium batteries with tow genuine blue sea MRBF fuses on each. The electrics were done with expansion in mind, a Victron Lynx distributor has been installed with wiring capable of handling a 3000w invertor via the Lynx. The Lynx will accommodate solar controller if required. DC/DC Victron XS50amp charger with a IP22 30a mains charger. All fittings are CBE not cheap rubbish. There are 6x type C USBs with 2 additional USBs, 3x 240v plugs, 3x 12v cigarette chargers, 4x reading lights with USBs in them too. There are strip lights in the garage and the main ceiling with a diffuser. There are spotlights in the kickboards and above the sink. On the pictures I have screen shot the list of items installed, wiring etc. (not including batteries) LPG tank is underslung at a cost of £574 from the LPG shop. This comes with the European adapters and has a level monitor. This powers the fitted two hob cookers, the Truma heater and an external BBQ outlet. Water is a 72L underslung tank that has a level monitor and heating element to make sure that it does not freeze. The hot water and heating system is powered by. Truma 4E (£1500), this also powers the outdoor hot and cold shower. WE DID NOT USE THIS ON OUR TRIP, so the Truma is absolutely brand new.
The van itself.
So, I have done a lot to this van to ensure longevity. I bought it as a CAT S, which I know makes some people run for the hills, but I have bought my last few vehicles as CAT S or N and I am no mechanic, but providing you get one that is in your skill set to repair, there is no issue. Prior to me buying it this had a small front-end shunt. The person I bought it off had done a cheap repair of basically glueing things back on. I stripped the front end off and bought new. I saw no structural damage at all, and a mechanic has checked it also. No airbags deployed. I placed a new front bumper on it, undertray, passenger front light, upper grill and left wing and new inner wheel arches. The bonnet had already been replaced. There was a dent on the offside that had been repaired but needed doing again but after I sprayed it I didn’t think it was worth it to do. I have completed a check on CAR VERTICAL and will provide a copy, but screenshots also on advert. I have taken off all the side and rear trims, sealed underneath them, sprayed anti-rust paint and then placed them back on. I have also replaced the sidelights down the van with LED’s. The bottom third of the van has been sprayed with RAPTOR paint by a “professional” that did a shit job on the inside of the doors and the front and back bumpers. I had a dispute with these and got all my money back. The paint off the bumpers has almost come off now so they are back to original, I have left them like that. I have had to sand down inside the door frames etc and painted them again and the outside, I’m happy with the rough texture and look of it.
I have sprayed most of the underneath and wheel arches with stone chip paint. It comes with a Pioneer radio with apple and android CarPlay, I also upgraded the speakers. I sprayed the whole cab black and lined the ceiling. It comes with Rogue alloys diamond cut in black and copper with DAVANTI off-road tyres (£1500). The van is secured with deadlocks on the sides and rear (£540). Recently serviced with receipts and two keys.
There are small cosmetic bits to do inside, bit of edging trim but as I said before, you may want to redesign the interior for your needs and just take advantage of all the spec and van so I will just leave as is.
Extras Included
Portable fridge freezer 12v with an internal battery to keep freezer frozen for 24 hours £540
Rear storage box £120
Side awning with magnetic driveaway fittings from OLPRO £450

Window blackouts for the front cab £60

Ask me any questions, come and view it, there is loads I have missed off no doubt, I am open to sensible offers, if you know much about self builds you can see it’s a good electric set up and system, the vans not cosmetically perfect but it’s a solid tough good van that did not fault on our trip.

The van is insured as a camper but not changed with DVLA. My insurance company is fully aware of this and all I have done to the van.
I did weigh the van after completion and fully loaded up and it came to 3200kgs.
So the bottom bunk was initially designed for my wife and I and we could sleep width ways but was a snug fit, I’m 5ft 11. The top bunk was designed for the two kids to sleep length ways with a divider between and for it to extend out but I decided to just have one child on top and one at the bottom. The divider is in place and removable but I never extended it.
