Originally converted for a couple to travel and live in all year round, Shaniqua has fully insulated walls, floor, ceiling and bulkhead (between the cab and living space) with 50mm Kingspan insulation behind soft wood tongue and groove cladding on the walls and ceiling.
With a micro wood burner she’s easily kept toasty and warm no matter what the weather in the winter, and the insulation keeps the heat of the sun at bay, allowing a cool place to hang out when its hot outside. Two ceiling vents (one pop-up and the other fully open-able) and two small side windows with slide opening allow for air to flow without compromising privacy. A deploy-able drying rack situated near the burner easily solves any issue of drying damp items in the winter.
A kitchen comprising of sink, draining board, 3 way fridge with freezer compartment, gas hob and grill and small gas oven and 240v socket caters for most of your cuisine needs! With ample cupboard storage there’s plenty of room for kitchen kit, crockery and food. The 70L internal water tank is fill-able via Aquaroll and pump or direct hose from the outside, and supplies water on demand to the sink.
A bench seat with stow-able table is set up opposite the side door, and has convenient 12 volt, USB and 240v sockets, plus reading light. There is also a high level shelf with 4 USB sockets for phone/device/speaker charging. Under the bench seat is a ventilated space where the electrical kit and leisure batteries are stored.
The bed area has 12 volt, USB and 240v sockets and a laptop shelf for easy charging on one side, and a wall of storage on the opposite, and two reading lights at the head end.
There are flush fitted ceiling lights throughout the living space, with the bed area lights on a separate switch to the the rest of the living space. All of these lights can be switched from the bed area.
The awning is a bespoke canvass and wood affair, fully close-able with optional canvass walls. Its erected by sliding the roof in to a kader rail on the side of the van and then installing 3 wooden poles, secured by 1m metal stakes and ratchets. The walls can the be hung using a hook/eye system and pegged down with wooden stakes. Area covered by the awning is approx 2m x 4.5m.

The solar controller and inverter have built in battery protection to prevent the batteries becoming damaged from being overly discharged. The MPPT technology is the best for getting the most from your solar panel, even in low light conditions (ie winter). All 3 Victron devices are easily monitored and managed via bluetooth and an app on a smartphone, plus there is a leisure battery voltage display in the living area for quick checking.
Storage – as mentioned there is ample storage in the living and bed areas, plus a good space under the bed that is accessible from the rear doors. This space holds the awning and associated kit, plus the Aquaroll, but still has plenty of room for extra kit. The gas cupboard is also accessible from the rear and holds 2x 6kg bottles.
All gas appliances have individual shut off valves, and floor vents are fitted wherever there is a gas appliance and in the gas cupboard.
One standard sized double bed, sleeps up to 2 adults.
Possibility for an extra birth for a young child but this is not currently set up.
