Volkswagen Transporter T4
This is Matilda, a VW T4 camper conversion from 1992 with 186819 miles on the clock at the time of listing. She’s a 1.9D, meaning she is slow and steady. I’ve part restored and owned her since 2021, and now she needs a new home.
I’ll be as honest as I can here so please do accept that the asking price considers all of these things. Young for her age, I’ve done approximately 20k miles over the last 4 years to various spots north and south for climbing, cycling and fishing.

– Wheels…
– Comes with a fire extinguisher and electrical hook up.
– New driveshafts (July 2020)
– Had had a LOT of work done to it over the last 10 years. Comes with a full range of receipts and records of this work and the MOT certificates and service record since 2018.
– Stainless steel exhaust system (May 2020)
– Whole vehicle resprayed January 2020.
What comes with a van of this age
– The exhaust could use some extra stabilisation (an exhaust mount has been lost). It’s fine, but there is a bit of extra noise when idling.
– There is a faulty connection to the radio unit coming somewhere from the ignition. As a result the radio sometimes does, and sometimes does not power up. Nothing an auto electrician couldn’t fix.
– She previously had a crap central locking and alarm system installed, which failed in embarrassing circumstances, meaning only the back and driver done can be unlocked / locked with the key. The rest need to be opened from the inside.
Please get in touch to arrange a viewing – serious enquiries only please.
The conversion includes a sink (with electric water supply) and two gas hobs. There’s a fold out double bed, curtains, storage and a skylight. See the full description for more information.
