Vehicle Description

LOCATION: BRISTOL

T4 VW Campervan ยฃ6500 Or nearest offer (priced to reflect all work done reconditioning engine and on dealing with rust, meaning it will last a very long time).

SUMMARY:
– 2.4 Diesel. 1997.
– Beautifully converted, bespoke pine painted panelling and cupboards.
– Owned for 10 years & looked after as never wanted to sell.
– Engine practically re-conditioned; see below.
– Mileage 202,114 but will live on for another 200-300k due to reconditioned engine, I have owned for 10 years and only done 50,000k but still feels like lots of adventures. Diesel engine lasts notoriously long time.
– LONG MOT until FEB 2025.

Facilities:
– 4 gas hobs.
– Grill
– Fridge
– Gas bottles that fuel the fridge, hob and grill. I have two of these which is really handy, because when you go away you can only guess how much is left by shaking the bottle, and when you go to a shop to get more gas, you will have to pay for re-fill of whole thing regardless of what you have left. Therefore, having two means you can use the gas till its empty and not fill up unnecessarily. Also each gas bottle lasts a very long time, I have done 10 days of camping with the fridge on constantly, as well as cooking, and still had plenty of gas left afterwards.
– Sink
– Leisure battery- NEW BATTERY lasts a long time, approx. 1-2 weeks camping. If you need more power just turn on the engine for a charge up!
– Main battery- is also fairly new and regularly charged up to maintain full capacity.
– Lights
– Speakers & CD player with auxiliary.
– Fold out dining table.
– Swivel seat on passenger side.
– Curtains that go all the way around.
– Cigarette lighter holes in front as well as back for USB phone charging.
– Rear door: Rear door is tailgate style which is the best option in my opinion. This is because it opens upwards, meaning that you can use it as an awning at the back when it is raining. You can either set up camping seats or sit on the end of the bed like a bench. Or when the seats are up, you would have a back rest.

Windows:
– All the side windows and back windows are tinted, so you have a sense of privacy when in the campervan. The front are not tinted, but you can draw the curtains at front.
– I recently had new windows put in both sides, dealing with a small amount of rust that had emerged, because I knew it was important to deal with before it spread. Therefore the window sills have NO rust and are excellent condition.

Cupboards:
– SO much cupboard space!
– Chest under the bed/back seat
– Storage under the bed accessed from the boot.
– Storage compartments either side of the bed which also double up as surfaces to put things on/bed side table type thing!
– Storage compartments around the sides and back.
– A secret compartment!! This is over the wheel arch and can only be accessed by unlocking it in a secret way! Good for storing cash, or glass spirit bottles when going to festivals.

The bed:
– The back can either be presented as seating. When it is in this position you have a bench seat on the inside facing forwards, but you also have a bench seat at the back, facing the boot, which means when the boot is open you have somewhere to sit that is protected from the rain.
– The bed is INCREDIBLY comfortable foam, genuinely more comfortable than my bed at home.
– The starry curtains go all the way around, even over the front windscreen.

The engine:
– The engine has practically been re-conditioned and is in amazing shape because within the last 10,000 miles I had a lot of work that was needed and so I took it to a specialist. The work required was cylinder head, head gasket and pistons; due to this the whole engine needed to come out, which obviously is hours and hours of expensive labour to take out, inspect and put in again. Therefore it was in my best interest to fix anything else discovered, that wouldn’t have been discovered if it wasn’t for the fact that they took the engine out. The garage was a very good specialist garage and if they found any parts were worn, I had those parts replaced, to save changing them another time and having to pay HOURS of labour again. I always had intention of keeping this van for years to come, hence I made sure it was looked after. So in a way it is similar to having a reconditioned engine as the whole thing has been gone through, parts replaced, parts cleaned etc. The whole job cost almost ยฃ4000.

T4 vans, (especially diesel which last a notoriously long time and go wrong less!), have been known to go for approximately 400,000-600,000 miles, so I do think it has AT LEAST another 200,000-300,000 miles left in it, which is a lot!!

To put this in perspective I have owned it since May 2014 (almost 10 years) and only done 50,000 miles.

Bodywork:
I have stayed on top of the rust that needed tending to:
– Rust on the window sills that was forming; was cut back and new larger tinted windows were put in.
– In 2022 MOT had rust cut away and welding done to inner wheel arch, and the sill beneath the door.
– In MOT 2023 have welded the chassis and the offside outer sill.
– As I said I always intended to keep this van, so I have dealt with anything required with regards to rust forming.

Every mechanic I ask when I wonder whether to sell says the same thing; “don’t sell it, it is very mechanically sound and in good condition, only need to stay on top of rust and it will keep going and going!”

MOT:
– MOT until END OF FEB 2025.
– This yearโ€™s MOT I can explain in person if viewing but there is only one or two things that need to be monitored, one of them I have booked in to fix at end of March.
– For last yearโ€™s MOT I went and had all advisories done plus some rust cut back and re-welded on offside outer sill. All of this welding work including breaks with MOT cost ยฃ1150.

Reason for selling:
– I have been gifted some money from my parents and so would like to put it towards upgrading to a van that meets the clean air zone, so that I donโ€™t have to have a car. Genuine sale, if I hadnโ€™t come into this money there is no way I would have sold this van.

Offers:
– Reasonable offers considered. Please feel free to call me to discuss.
