Meet Spirit. She is our 6th fully converted Stealth Campervan: 4 VW’s and 2 Fiat Ducato
This is our 1st where we have used professional fitters for the roof, windows, insulation, carpeting, pop top roof and bed configuration. The cupboards were provided by Van Furniture in Thetford, and fitted by ourselves. The reason we chose Van Furniture is the quality of light weight laminated birch ply. The design enables masses of storage space without using up too much of the van’s living area. This results in a very nice fit configuration. They also provided the CNC cut oak veneer floor, which is just beautiful.

Fitted with RIB Altair seat and bed configuration. The bed can be configured in many different ways. Converted to a bed in less than a minute. We like the fact that you sleep on the reverse of the bed, not the main seats as in most rock’n’roll beds. We use the RIB bed because it has the ability to store a quality portable potty, out of site when travelling. The bed also has masses of storage space underneath , both at the front and the back. Room for tables, chairs, awning, even fold-up bikes (not included).
Bespoke Pop top roof fitted, with simple operation and very tidy finish. Creates extra storage when roof is in up position. Can sleep 2 children with no problem

Excellent Planar 2kw diesel heater with advanced thermostat control, with timer, plus silent fuel pump – no clicking.
100ah Lithium Ion LiFEP04 battery installed with 1000w Pure Sine Wave 240v inverter, comes with remote control. Providing 2 x 240v sockets and 2 x USB sockets. 2 additional USB sockets.
The leisure battery is powered by the excellent Renogy combined B2B and solar MPPT charger, which keeps your battery charging whilst the engine is running, ensuring the main starter motor is fully charged before charging the back up. If you have the solar panel plugged in the charger will use this method also. This comes with a bluetooth module that enables you to monitor the engine charging and solar charging.
When you are parked up you can use the fabulous EcoFlow 160w portable solar panel. Having been full-time van lifers for the last 6 years we can assure you that this is the best solar power arrangement. A fixed solar panel is only really beneficial when you are in full sun light in the summer months. Once the sun starts to dip down, or if you are in shade you will need a portable unit to angle towards the sun, and potentially move around if you are in shade. The portable panel comes with a 5 metre extension lead.
On a side note we have an EcoFlow River Pro 720w backup lithium ion generator. This in used condition but is available under separate negotiation. This can be charged by mains in around an hour. It also utilises the 160w solar panel. This makes a great complement to the power system on board, if you find yourself with a longterm spell without moving or sunshine. However, you can always start the engine up to charge everything up 🙂

For those rainy nights or when you don’t want to miss Strictly we have installed an excellent LG 24″ smart TV/monitor. This is a super low power TV which is comfortably powered by the 1000w inverter. This comes with an excellent antenna that comes with a magnetic mount, enabling you to receive terrestrial channels using Freeview, but when you need catchup the TV also has the ability to connect to the internet and stream all the most popular streaming apps. We use our unlimited data mobile phones to use this facility, but tend to use this rather than the antenna.

Whilst driving you have the benefit of the excellent VW DAB radio with Bluetooth to connect your phone to hands free. The 102bhp engine provides swift power but also incredible 50+ mpg economy if you’re not in a rush. 40+ economy if you are 🙂

Both driver and passenger seat have swivel bases so you can create a lovely lounge feeling, with great black out curtains in the front cab for extra privacy.

Cooking: As mentioned this is our 4th VW. We have had 1 T5 and this is our 3rd T6. We also own a Fiat Ducato LWB. We have never been keen on cooking in the smaller vans, and so we haven’t installed a fixed cooker and sink, which frees up the counter top space. We have included a brand new mobile cooking hob, which uses the small calor gas cartridges. These last for ages and enable you to cook just as well as a fixed cooker. The sink is a collapsible version with a 15 litre collapsible water container. Just purchased a brand new 18L ultra low power compressor fridge/freezer. When you use the van for a while it becomes a very desirable set up, encouraging you to cook outside.

Lighting: We have installed 2 separate lighting systems. 3 individually touch controlled spots down the left side, and beautiful dimmable LED warm lighting which is powered by the inverter but uses hardly any power.

The V5 states the van is a van with side windows. This didn’t affect insurance premiums as this is now very common.

All in all this is a beautifully fully converted van. The full completion happened recently, so this feels like a brand new conversion. We are confident that the first person to see and drive Spirit will buy her. Check out our website for even more detail. StealthVanLife.co.uk Happy journeys :))
