Camper conversion was commissioned by us through the fantastic Vanscape in Devon (not all converters are equal!!) in Jan 2018; so it’s only just over 4 years old. Here’s everything you need to know:

Base Vehicle:

Volkswagen Transporter T5 (5.1) T30 LWB 2.0 Litre TDI 140 (Diesel). 6 Speed manual. Air Conditioning
Ontario Green – not many vans around in this colour
Standard Black bumpers
140 BHP engine – makes the vehicle great to drive compared to 102 version. Engine completely standard, no modifications, ‘chipping’ etc.

LWB (Long Wheel Base) – makes quite a difference
Tailgate – essential for packing the van up in the rain
Startline Edition with the Comfort Pack. This means a few hand rails, Air Conditioning, trip computer, better audio and it has Bluetooth audio on the Stereo, which I only figured out yesterday. Great audio, with standard speakers in the front and extra in the back through the conversion.
2 x ‘Captain’s chairs’ seats with arms rests in front, both on swivel platforms, up/down, forward/backward, lumbar adjustments etc. From T6, reupholstered through converters with green thread trim.
Rib Seat/bed in back is extra wide and seats x 3, so 5 people can travel in this van.
V5 present, body type ‘Motor Caravan’, reclassified following conversion
2 remote keys/immobilisers, plus one standard key (just does vehicle lock – good for the beach)
Central locking, standard VW security.
1 previous owner (2 including me)
Bought by me through Imperial Commercial (VW) Derby) in 2017 – Approved used VW with 74000 miles.
VW Tow Bar and Rear Heated Window – part of new vehicle order spec – Not after market

Service History:

Full service history, all VW until 2017, including cambelt service at 74000.
Last service was at 80103 miles at a local reputable garage – July 2020.

Work done under our ownership:

New Clutch and flywheel replaced – Feb 2019 – VW Van Centre Cheltenham – all genuine VW parts and labour – £2000 (ouch)
New Bilstein shocks and springs all around – the previous owner lowered the vehicle slightly – I returned vehicle to OEM spec. Around £800
Genuine VW T6 Devonport alloys with Continental Tyres – lots of wear left – nowhere near limits – locking wheel nuts
New side door lower roller replaced (a few weeks ago) – other rollers greased up – very smooth now

What else to say?

Cabin in excellent condition. Few light scuffs here and there.
Body – excellent all around – very minor crease on offside side panel – barely noticeable. Few scuffs on wing mirror, no cracks or damage.
Paint work – very good, few chips and scuffs – only noticeable from very closeup as the pictures attest.
Reimo side rail fitted for awning attachment, rain gutter above drivers’ door.

INCLUDED – Genuine VW 4 x bike rack fitted – will reduce asking price by £500 if the buyer doesn’t want this.
INCLUDED – Vango Galli Low air beam driveaway awning, comes with extra Vango ground sheet and 1 interior bedroom – all great condition, used maybe 10 times over our ownership. 2017 model. Fixing poles, clamps etc and pump. Latest version of this retails at over £1000 – will reduce asking price by £800 if the buyer doesn’t want this.

The conversion:

Commissioned by us in Feb 2018 by Vanscape in Devon. You can see from their website gallery the quality and style. It’s their Ben Nevis Deluxe conversion. This is from the certificate of completion:

12v split charge system with control panel with leisure battery
240v hook up going to RCD tripped 3 pin socket
240v to 12v fridge system – means fridge automatically switches between 240v/12v
3 seater RIB seat/bed reupholstered in VW Simora fabric with lime green stitch (front seats were new and done in same cloth/stitch). RIB system is much better than other ‘rock and roll’ bed/seat systems, as gives much more rear boot space. This 3 seater is wider than many.
4 LED lights of various types
Curtains plus insulated screen for windscreen and drivers cabin windows
Windows with Privacy Glass
Fire extinguisher.
Carpets front and back
15 metre hook up cable included.
