WES VANDERSON — One-of-a-kind vintage Japanese van with a new Japandi interior

Wes Vanderson has seen the world. Originally manufactured in 1990 in Japan as a local mobile vaccination unit, it was decommissioned before being used and was placed in storage until 2009 when it was imported to the UK and converted (twice) into a campervan. It looks like it’s stepped right out of a Wes Anderson movie and has all the charm to match. This Japandi-inspired bespoke conversion features a lacquered plywood interior with a multi-use counter that accommodates a kitchen, preparation space and a trifold generous double bed, which is accompanied by a permanent daybed. Recently fitted is a brand new Truma combi heating and hot water system. There is a functional wet room with a shower, vintage Japanese sink unit and cassette toilet. With windows on every aspect, there is an abundance of light that streams into the van, and blackout blinds for sleeping/privacy. A key focus of the conversion is the extensive storage, that is integrated above and below the kitchen, above the driver’s cab, beneath and alongside the daybed and further storage adjacent to the rear entrance to the van. There is generous lighting, that can be controlled specifically by fixture, which beautifully compliments the plywood finish and the unique mink floor. This conversion is designed to accommodate anything from weekend getaways to day-to-day living, with high-end materials and professional fitting.
