Camp Quirky 2023 Ambassadors

2023 is in full swing and the countdown to Camp Quirky has officially begun. From the 28th April to the 1st of May the Quirky Campers team will be taking over a field in Kelmarsh to bring you interactive workshops, banging tunes, delicious grub and a whole lot of heart. None of this would be possible without our incredible community and this includes this lovely bunch, who you may say are legends of the vanlife world.

So from your instagram feed to the Camp Quirky field, here are our 10 festival ambassadors…

Jordan & Jim – Our Cornish Adventure

Meet Jordan and Jim! In 2019 they sold everything they owned and bought a plot of land by the coast in Cornwall. They have been living tiny while building their home. They have just bought themselves a new project; a VW T6 that they are converting, ready for more festivals and adventures in 2023.

What was your favourite part of Camp Quirky 2022?

“Our favourite part of last year’s Camp Quirky 2022 was meeting so many like minded individuals. We have stayed in touch throughout the year and have become firm friends. It turns out we don’t just have van-living in common! Quirky brings together fun, creative, nature loving souls in the most inclusive and safe space.”

What are you most looking forward to this year?

“We are so excited for Camp Quirky 2023 to catch up with our friends and to get knowledge and inspiration for our brand new camper conversion!”

Beth – She is the Lost Girl

Beth has been travelling the world full time since 2014. During the last 8 years of having a nomadic lifestyle she’s lived in 5 different vehicles and spent years living out of just a backpack. She travels with her partner Jake who she met on the other side of the world. They love to inspire people to live the life they dream of and how full-time travel can be done in so many different ways. They love to learn about new cultures, meet like minded people and prioritise experiences over possessions.

What was your favourite part of Camp Quirky 2022?

“My favourite thing about Camp Quirky last year was making new friends and getting to know the amazing people in this very welcoming community. The weekend was so chilled and the music and workshops were brilliant.”

What are you most looking forward to this year?

“I’m really looking forward to making new friends, getting inspired by the workshops and eating some amazing food (hopefully) in the sunshine with like minded people.”

Izzy & Laurie – Camper Dreamin

Izzy, Laurie & Bear love all things vans and all things adventure. If they’re not dreaming up van conversions in the workshop, they’re hitting the road to dream destinations in their lovingly crafted campervan Skye.

What was your favourite part of Camp Quirky 2022?

“Our favourite part of Camp Quirky 2022 was chatting to all the like minded people about our favourite subject – vans!”

What are you most looking forward to this year?

“We can’t wait to do it all again this year and we are especially excited to be bringing two vans with us this time. More vans, more van chat, more awesome, inspiring people. Bring it on!”

Bobby & Courtney

Bobby aka ‘Beardy Faced Camper’ is a dog walker/photographer and Courtney aka ‘Baby Faced Camper’ is an ex bricklayer turned delivery driver. They are a London based couple and keen weekend wanderers who try to hit the road as often as their busy schedules allow in their big green self-built sexy machine aka Madge.

What was your favourite part of Camp Quirky 2022?

“Camp Quirky 2022 was unknown for us and we approached it nervously. We’d done a lot of camping but usually with the intention of being as far away from people as possible and I’m (Bobby) really not a ‘festival person’. The pandemic has done a great job of increasing our social anxiety and we always tend to prefer the quiet time away from London on the coast or amongst the trees. Camp Quirky, however, turned out to be a brilliant antidote to this. It was nothing like we had expected and instead everything we had hoped it would be. We met many wonderful people and made some genuine friends and unforgettable memories… some of which involved wine, the roof deck, yoga and a lot of laughter.”

What are you most looking forward to this year?

“We’re both loud and very proud to be a small part of Camp Quirky 2023 and we’re really looking forward to seeing all those gorgeous faces again. We know that everyone that’s coming for the first time will get to experience the same warmth and welcome that we did and we get to be a part of it. How cool is that! Bring on the firepits, the fairy lights, the group hugs and the hangover breakfast cookups! We can’t wait!!!”

Jonny & Hannah – Finding Our Adventure

Jonny & Hannah, also known as Finding our Adventure, have been travelling together for more than a decade now. In 2014 they took their first multi month trip to South Africa. In 2017 Finding our Adventure was born as they travelled South East Asia for 6 months and in 2021 they were able to make full time travel their jobs which has been incredible. They currently travel with their two cats Tia and Sky in their Ford Transit campervan documenting everything on Instagram, Youtube, Tiktok and our website!

“The best thing about Camp Quirky 22 was the people and the friends we made!”

What are you most looking forward to this year?

Chloe & James – Take a Drive on the Wild Side

Say hi to Chloe and James, they’ve lived in their van Biscuit, with their animals, Vinnie (parrot) and Nina (pup), for three years. They chose this lifestyle to live more freely and be closer to nature, and although it has its challenges, Biscuit has taken them to some incredible places and travelling with all the comforts of home is always a winner.

What are you most looking forward to this year?

“We can’t wait for Camp Quirky this year, the best thing about vanlife is the community and people you meet on the road, we’ve made some friends for life and are excited to make some more, we will also be serving you some delish Mexican street food from our food truck, Nina’s.”

Absolutely Lucy

Lucy is the backpacker-turned-van lifer behind solo female adventure travel blog, Absolutely Lucy. She’s travelled solo to over 40 countries and now splits her time between exploring new countries and vanlife trips in her camper van, Fortuna, in the UK. She’s a big fan of festivals, cold water dips and wild adventures.

What was your favourite part of Camp Quirky 2022?

“My favourite thing about Camp Quirky 2022 was getting to meet so many amazing members of the vanlife community. As someone who was so new to vanlife, it felt amazing to make so many new friends, see their incredible vans and even make plans to meet up on the road. I’m so excited to meet even more people at this year’s event and to inspire even more solo female travellers.”

What are you most looking forward to this year?

“I can’t wait to be back in the DVUK tent giving a talk on solo female travel – it was a real highlight last year at Camp Quirky and I’m excited to inspire women to feel confident to travel solo.”

River & Tee – Slowly Wild

Slowly Wild are a family of 5 that formerly lived full-time on the road in a scandi-styled-self-converted Mercedes Vario. They spent most of their 2 years of buslife travelling the UK roads (due to lockdown!). This adventurous lifestyle was mixed with a balance of road-schooling their 3 children Roman, Arabella and Nalu. More recently they have transitioned to a more traditional lifestyle and moved into a house in preparation for their new baby. Although they are no longer full time living in their bus, they see a future of amazing family memories on long duration trips. Although they have some work to do in working in an additional seat and bed for their new arrival.

Elle & JazzClock Off Campers

Elle and Jazz, aka Clock Off Campers are lovers and creators of micro campervans! They’ve been converting Campervans for over 3 years – smashing gender stereotypes in the industry, because who says a pair of gals can’t pick up tools and build a home wheels? They’re also massive advocates for reclaiming your free time – whether that’s clocking off after a hard day at the 9-5 or putting the out of office on for a long weekend, hopping into a fully converted van gets you out the door on and on the road in minutes.

What was your favourite part of Camp Quirky 2022?

“As a gay couple and founders of The Queer Campfire our fave part of Camp Quirky 2022 was definitely getting to meet fellow diverse van lovers at the Diversify Vanlife meet-up and seeing the community in its full beauty.”

What are you most looking forward to this year?

“We’re absolutely buzzing to be back at Camp Quirky this year and be able to look around so many incredible vans and chill out with new and old van pals!”
