1973 Volkswagen T2 Campervan

We’re selling our muchloved 1973 late bay VW camper, affectionately known as Betty. We bought her in spring 2023 with all our savings, hoping she’d force us to slow down from our hectic NHS lives. In reality, we’ve only managed seven nights away in her.

Betty’s previous owner refurbished the bodywork, and the owner before that had the engine rebuilt (24k miles ago). We’ve continued to maintain and improve her, and she’s now in genuinely lovely condition.

Betty is fully roadworthy and drives beautifully for a 53-year-old. She needs no essential work, and everything required to drive away and start camping is included:

If you value your sanity, think carefully before owning a classic camper. Even in great condition, there will always be something to tinker with – this is part of the “joy”, or so we’re told.

Warranties/Guarantees: None. ‘Sold as seen’ means exactly that.

Offers: Price is subjective. The advertised figure reflects a professional valuation, as such, Betty may not be the camper for you at this approximate price. You’re welcome to offer a little more, but we’re reluctant to accept much less for her.

Budget wisely: Classic campers will go wrong at some point.

Payment: Full confirmed bank transfer before Betty leaves our driveway.

And finally…
Owning a classic camper is part terror, part joy, but when that old aircooled engine coughs into life with its whistling ticketytick, you’re reminded what feeling properly alive can be – free, slow, and slightly expensive.

We’ll be devastated to let Betty go, but she deserves adventures we couldn’t give her.
