Toyota Hilux
I’m considering selling my truck and camper setup as a whole unit. Please note the rear of the chassis on the Hilux needs welding. More info below. I’ll be returning from a trip to Georgia in a few weeks and will be looking to sell around the end of October. For this right person this is a great adventure rig project. I would be open to selling either the truck or the camper separately for the right money respectively.
The camper is a homemade demountable. It has a large bed over the cab, plenty of storage and a seating/table area which folds down into another small bed. Power comes from a 230Ah Fogstar Drift LiFePO4 battery, and a Renogy DCC50s charging system which balances a 425w solar panel and alternator DC-DC charging off the truck. This will also back-charge the truck using the solar when the camper battery is full. The system will last indefinitely off grid with sun or driving, or for around 4 days stationary with no sun. There’s also a 3/6kW Renogy inverter, an Eberspacher D2 diesel heater, USB charging all round and internal and external lighting. It has a Lavanda double gas burner, sink with fresh and grey water tanks, and a CamperCool 12v fridge/freezer refitted with an LG compressor. The camper is DIY and not aesthetically perfect. I can send more photos or it can be viewed and discussed, but it’s by no means a pro job. For example, the mastic work around the windows and door is messy, and some of the joinery inside isn’t perfect. And, while the camper is technically demountable, the jacks aren’t long enough to do it in one stage and without additional stands – meaning de/mounting with the current system is time consuming.
The truck is a 2011 3.0 Manual Hilux Invincible with 175k miles. Mot until June 2026. It runs and drives well, the engine is great and shows no signs of any faults. The truck has only ever caused me one problem: corrosion issues on the rear end. It’s not eligible for the new chassis from Toyota, and like all Hilux of this age, the majority of the chassis behind the front leaf spring mounts needs attention. It’s been welded in several places on my recent trip, and will need further work. It’s also missing a shock absorber at the back after the chassis mount rusted off. Besides that, the truck has a custom flatbed designed for the camper, and a DIY winch bumper, on which I never got round to mounting the winch. It’s on 16″ steel wheels with Maxxis Wormdrive all terrians with plenty of tread left – and two full size spare wheels are included in the sale. The rear seats are removed so the space can be used for storage instead.
This is a DIY project and is being sold as such, and needs to be seen/discussed before sale. There’s no warranty or guarantee, and nothing has been professionally certified.
