The concept behind the conversion was to create a genuine, comfortable living space inside a discreet Ford Transit panel van. The exterior deliberately retains the appearance of a standard commercial vehicle, with no obvious campervan windows or motorhome styling. This provides excellent privacy, security and discretion while parked, making it particularly suited to digital nomads, remote workers, extended travel or anyone looking for a mobile living space rather than a traditional holiday campervan.
Inside, the L3H3 provides a surprisingly spacious living environment with a large fixed double bed, dedicated seating area, solid pine pop-up dining/work table, extensive storage and a full IKEA Metod kitchen incorporating a 2000W induction hob, black sink and tap, 35L fresh-water tank, water pump, waste-water system, black soap dispenser, Panasonic 800W microwave and brand-new Camper Cool 65L 12V fridge/freezer.
The conversion has been extensively insulated and sound deadened using Dodo Mat products, PIR insulation and thermal materials throughout the floor, walls and ceiling. The ceiling is finished in pine tongue-and-groove wood with a Dark Oak Briwax finish, incorporating 8 x warm-white Acegoo 12V LED lights. A Maxxair ventilation fan and brand-new Shure Vans diesel heater provide year-round comfort.
The off-grid electrical system is a major feature of the build. It includes a brand-new Eco-Worthy 280Ah lithium house battery, 350W Victron solar panel, Victron 30A MPPT controller, Eco-Worthy 40A DC-DC charger and Bluetti AC180 power station. A 300W inverter provides 240V power for lower-powered equipment, while the Bluetti provides the capacity for high-demand appliances such as the induction hob and microwave.
The 65L Camper Cool fridge/freezer runs continuously from the house battery and is exceptionally power efficient. Under normal conditions, the 350W solar system produces more energy than the fridge consumes, allowing the house battery to remain fully charged while the fridge runs 24/7.
The electrical installation is neatly arranged underneath the bed using bus bars, with the individual circuits appropriately fused and the main components accessible for inspection and maintenance.
The interior also includes a brand-new TCL 32″ UHD TV with Netflix and other applications, Amazon Alexa with Bluetooth connectivity to the TV, extensive overhead and kitchen storage, Amtico LVT flooring and warm ambient LED lighting throughout.
This has been built as a genuine living environment rather than simply a van with a bed fitted inside. It is particularly suited to someone wanting the freedom to travel and live comfortably off-grid, work remotely, spend extended periods away from home or simply have a completely private and discreet mobile living space.
A genuinely unusual, bespoke conversion combining the practicality of a large L3H3 Transit with the comfort and finish of a small studio apartment — while retaining the stealth exterior that makes it different from a conventional campervan.
Fixed double bed with an 8-inch memory foam mattress. The bed has been purpose-built to maximise the available length of the L3H3 interior, with bespoke cut-outs incorporated into the surrounding wall structure. Constructed using ceiling-joist timber, 18mm plywood facing and 18mm plywood slats, with IKEA Skorva beams for additional support. Supplied with brand-new bed covers, duvet, pillows and pillowcases.
