Detailed Information
Vehicle Description

The engine is a 2 litre diesel with Blue HDI so it is ULEZ compliant. It runs superbly with good acceleration and copes really well with hills, even from a standing start on steep slopes.
Currently the mileage is 53,800. This may go up as it is in use on occasion.
The MPG is officially stated as 45.6.
It is a 6 gear manual transmission.
New MOT that runs until 25/04/2025
The van has reversing sensors and I have also installed a reversing camera.
The base van comes with all the usual elements like USB and Aux connections, Sat Nav, CD player, cruise control/speed limiter, airbags, ABS and a surprisingly powerful audio system!
I wanted to ensure the safety of my campervan so I had a professional install Thatchem approved deadlocks, alarm and a tracker with Vodafone (yearly subscription).
I have a part service history as the previous owner of the van was a lease company, and they did not pass on their internal records, although the van was very well maintained as you would expect. I have kept a full history since purchase.
The bodywork is in very good condition with no damage. Just a couple of marks on the plastic trim which is pretty good for a 5 year old campervan.
Due to a freak incident with a piston exploding and blowing straight through the engine block I had a new refurbished engine fitted in April 2023. I decided to go the whole hog and had quite a few other new parts fitted including โ€“ clutch kit, timing belt, all the filters, starter motor, turbo core and water pump. Bruce has driven like a dream ever since.

Conversion Description

Bruce is truly a wonderful camper with everything you could possibly need to take you off on adventures. I have had many exciting trips with him but now work and family commitments mean I just do not have the opportunity any more to take advantage of having a camper van. I didnโ€™t go on one proper trip in 2023! So, it makes me very sad to say I have decided to sell Bruce on to someone else who can do what Bruce was made for โ€“ having fun!

A lot has gone into Bruce to make him the ultimate adventure camper and I will detail it all below but I wanted to explain quickly my rationale on the build. I have focused primarily on ensuring all the electrical, gas and water components were top notch so a lot of the cost of the build went on these. I have been on month long trips without needing to hook up the electrics or refill the gas cylinder. There is also a ridiculous amount of storage, so those month trips are fully supplied. My favourite part, although not that important, is the trickle charge from the Victron inverter back to the starter battery so no matter how long you leave the van for it will start first time. Crucial when you are out in the wilds!

Electrics
The electrical system is fully specced to enable you to spend a long period of time off grid. There is a Victron DC-DC charger to fill up the leisure battery while on the move; and on the roof there are three 175W (525W total!) Renogy solar panels feeding through a MPPT to the battery. If you really do need to hook up to mains power you can โ€“ which will connect to a inverter. All of these sources power a humongous 400Ah LiFePO4 battery from Roamer batteries. With this system I have never dropped below 80% charge on the battery, even in winter.
There is a control panel to monitor and control the whole system as well as other components for the smooth running and safety of the system (see list below).
For lighting there are 8 ceiling spot lights throughout the van, LED light strips in the overhead cupboards and the garage, as well as 2 reading lights above the bed.
In regards to charging points there are 6 12V USB 3.0 sockets and 6 230V 3-pin plug sockets.
Mobile phone reception in a van can be a bit of an issue and I work remotely so needed something better. Bruce has a Poynting Puck-5 antenna that can provide 5G coverage with LTE, WIFI and GPS. This attaches to a Teltonika RUT955 dual sim router. This set up has made a lot of difference to my work and often gets reception when my phone has none.

Heating and Water
The heating is run through a Truma Combi 4E boiler that pumps hot air through the van and has a 10L reservoir for hot water. This is supplied by a 25L LPG gas tank fixed under the van and can also run off electric. The boiler has a control panel where you can set automatic heating or control it manually. The van heats up quickly when you turn the blowers on and keeps it toasty warm. The water will heat up in under 20 minutes for a shower or washing up.
For water storage there is a 70L Fiamma water tank in the garage and a 15L waste water tank under the sink. A Shurflo pump sends the water through the pipes and a Fiamma expansion tank and particle filter keep the flow even and smooth. There is a Bullfinch shower fixed just inside the back doors so you can get clean after your hikes and swims or alternatively the sink tap extends out as well.

Kitchen and Lounge area
I like to cook, and I am not shy of large portions, so having a good kitchen was a must. The fridge is a 90L 12V compressor fridge. This has 78L of fridge space and a 6L freezer compartment giving plenty of room for all you could need. It uses very little energy and can be very quiet. For cooking there is a Triplex cooker with 3 burner hob and a 36L combined oven and grill. You can cook up a feast with it. For washing up all your dishes I installed a large stainless steel sink that can be hidden with a cover for extra surface space when not in use. Or to hide your dirty dishes!
The worktops and table are made from solid oak for strength and a beautiful finish. The tabletop is supported by a Lagun swivel base with 2 mounting points so you can position the table however you like. The sofa cushions were custom made from The Foam Shop, like the mattress, and finished in an easy clean fabric. They are removable to allow access to the under seat storage. Both front seats are on swivel bases to make the lounge area suitable for entertaining and seating of 4/5 people.

Ventilation
Over the lounge/kitchen area there is a Maxxfan Deluxe fan with a blind and is remote controlled. This can bring air in or out as required and at its top setting can be very powerful. Over the bed I installed the large Skymaxx rooflight which has a blackout blind and midge net so you can leave the skylight open at night or sleep in late whenever you want. This really is wonderful for lying in bed and looking at the stars.

Security and Privacy
As mentioned before there are deadlocks on all the doors of the van to keep the contents safe. A Thatchem approved alarm with internal motion sensors has been added and a tracker with a Vodafone subscription gives you peace of mind when away from the van.
I had 2 privacy windows installed in the rear of the van which also have blackout blinds. There is a blackout curtain between the rear and cab area and to get things really dark I have removable black out covers for all the cab windows too.

Storage
This was another crucial part for me. There are overhead cupboards throughout the van on both sides with lighting. A large storage area is found under the seats which also contains the DC-DC charger. The garage under the bed houses the electrical and water systems but also has a lot of space for more storage. I kept items in large boxes here with no problem. There is also a pull-out drawer by the back doors for easy access.

Toilet
For those moments when you just canโ€™t wait there is a Blue Diamond Nature Calls Composting Toilet. It is contained on a pull-out drawer in a sealed compartment but easily accessible when needed.

Insulation
The van floor and ceiling were fully insulated with 25mm PIR insulation board as was the head and foot wells for the bed. The rest of the walls were filled with Thermafleece insulation made from recycled plastic bottles. All of this certainly makes a difference at the extremes of weather.

Exterior
When hiding from the elements but still wanting to be outside you need an awning. I went for the Fiamma F45S awning which covers the whole side of the van at 375cm long. It extends up to 2.5m from the van to give a large space underneath. I also have the matching groundsheet.
I love being active outside and am a keen cyclist so had to have a bike rack, which is attached to the back doors. The Thule bike rack can hold 2 full sized bikes with lockable brackets for security.

Bonus!
If youโ€™ve made it this far, I just wanted to say I am also throwing in a few bonus items that will make life in the camper just a bit easier. You can find them out when you come to view the van!

Beds Description

The bed is permanently fixed and can sleep 2 adults. It runs width ways across the van.
The mattress is custom-made, from The Foam Shop, to fit the space available and measures 190cm long by 140cm wide. Bigger than a standard double. The mattress is 10cm thick with a top layer of memory foam. It is super comfy. I have had many lovely nights sleep on it and perfect for star gazing through the skylight.
