1970 Airstream safari
We are the second owners of the Airstream, we brought it for a family how had it from new in the states
I imported our Airstream from the USA in 2004, and my wife, 2 daughters and I have had many happy holidays in it.
Three years ago, it was totally refurbished. It was stripped down to the chassis, removing the whole interior, leaving only the aluminium shell. We then reconfigured the layout to keep it as close to the original as possible as well as optimising the use of space.
Sitting Room / Diner
Seated area comfortably seats 6 people.
The main table extends to double its size if required, and folds down to create a 2nd double bed.
There is ample storage space beneath one of the seats and the boiler and electric batteries beneath the other.
The original clock still works within the original Airstream Central Control Panel.
There are USB sockets in the 13amp sockets
The curtains have been remade to match the original curtains and the blackout blinds are white and custom made for Airstream
Kitchen:
The kitchen has its original gas cooker, sink, and taps that have been
refurbished to a high standard.
There are a number of built-in cupboards and drawers of varying sizes in the kitchen and living areas that accommodate food, kitchen utensils and cleaning equipment.
Shower / Toilet:
The shower room is a self-contained 100 % sealed and waterproof unit which also contains a composting toilet.
Bedroom:
The permanent double bed is 140 cm x 200 cm. It can be lifted on its hydraulic arms, and beneath it there is the same dimension of storage space. The storage space is split with the other half accessed from outside via the hatch behind the number plate. We use this to store a BBQ, outdoor table and chairs etc..
The Airstream aluminium skin has been professionally polished, we also had the gas bottle unit made in aluminium as well .
There is a full-length blue Zip Dee awning giving ample space to protect you from sun / rain!
The heating and hot water system is a Truma Combi boiler 4a system. It is highly efficient and can be operated by Wifi [ You can put it on at the beach, so it is lovely and warm when you get back to the Airstream!]
There is a new RM850 106 litre Domestic Fridge/freezer that is gas, electricity and battery operated.
All gas fittings, electrical wiring and plumbing and tow hitch have been replaced and meet UK standards.
It has a 50 gallon internal water tank
It is 23 ft long with a single axle
The weight is 1,660 Kg
There is a dead lock on the door and a GPS tracker.
