This great all-round family vehicle is big on the inside whilst fitting easily into a standard supermarket parking spot. The awesome 4×4 system with low range transfer box and high ground clearance means it is a go anywhere adventure vehicle for fields, beaches, overlanding and green laning.
Use like a car, a day van, or camp in it.
Registered correctly with the DVLA as a Motor Caravan on the V5.
There are 5 belted seats and a huge boot area with a bench seat, kitchen area, off grid electrics and storage.
Made for the Japanese market and registered in 2002 this Delica was imported from Japan by the renowned Delica specialist company Adventure Motor Vehicles in 2018. Its first UK owner organised an LPG conversion and camper conversion and many upgrades to the engine and suspension to make this awesome on and off road day van, daily driver and adventure vehicle – especially suitable for cycling events due to its custom swing away removable bike rack. It is just as happy taking the kids to school and motorway driving, while narrow roads and parking are no problem. Import paperwork and original manuals (in Japanese) are available with it, plus a stack of paperwork for the upgrades and work done in the UK.
Dual fuel: Petrol (unleaded) plus LPG with underslung 96L tank that also runs the gas hob, Propex van heater and outside portable grill/oven/BBQ (plugs into custom LPG solenoid controlled outlet). The LPG conversion was done by Autogas Cumbria in 2018. Correctly registered on UK LPG Register. Comes with set of LPG filling adapters for travel on the continent.
3.0L V6 petrol engine. Automatic gearbox with overdrive on each gear. Super select 4WD (can be engaged whilst driving), locking centre differential and hi/lo ratio transfer box – amazing off road and makes driving in ice and snow much safer. Its narrow width allows this camper to get to places many others can’t and allows it to be used for those holiday day trips from narrow lanes to busy cities. Effortless cruising at motorway speeds and ergonomic driving position.
2 inch lift with the rear suspension springs replaced with 20% stiffer ones from Milner Off Road. Air ride hight adjustable Monroe Air Max rear dampers fitted in 2024.
Wheels removed and bead blasted and powder coated gloss black 2024 with All Terrain Mud & Snow tyres and wider arches. A set of 4 wheels with almost new road tyres may be available for an additional £250.
Custom steel rear bumper with tow ball, 7 pin electrics, LED fog light and high power LED reversing light.
Reversing camera (this is a bit intermittent and I have a new one ready to replace it). Dash camera.
Thule roof bars currently supporting a large solar panel but previously used for a roof tent (not included). A side bar to support a customised Terzo ladder is included – perfect to reach a roof tent or roof box or to mount a side awning. ARB side awning with sides/windbreaks are included.
Fammia custom aluminium swing out bike rack can take up to 4 bikes and swings out of the way of the rear door with bikes on it. Easily removed when not needed. This could be adapted to incorporate a swing away spare wheel. It has brackets to carry the side ladder when not in use.
Original Mitsubishi hydraulic Jack supplied plus an emergency inflator/puncture repair kit and spare bulbs, fuses, triangle etc required for travel in Europe.
The Delica is mechanically good. It has just passed its MOT. The engine has done a lot of miles (almost 150K – oedometer is in km and will go up slightly as still in daily use) but has been well looked after with regular engine oil and filter changes. The timing belt has been replaced twice and the crankshaft pulley bolt was done in 2022. Regularly wax oiled with Ankor Wax. The only welding done was when a rear bump stop punched through the chassis due to the van being overweight with a camper conversion, LPG tank, water tank, roof tent, 4 people, 4 bikes and climbing kit – hence the reason for stronger rear springs and suspension being installed. New Radiator and coolant header tank. Magnecor ignition cables, coil pack and spark plugs. All fluids, diffs gearbox etc. Recent new brake callipers all round plus new battery, alternator etc.
Air conditioning blows cold.
The body work is pretty good considering this is a well used 24 year old van. Some small scattered rust patches but cosmetic only.
The interior is well used but clean and ready for immediate use. It’s just waiting for some new personal touches.
Dash Cam, electric front windows, Car Play, radio CD/DVD player, LED lighting, self deploying side step to rear sliding door, rear privacy tints, electric wing mirrors, heated windscreen, air conditioning.
The bad bits:
The LPG is currently cutting back to petrol under normal driving conditions. The previous owner said it worked fine until it was left unused for a while so it may just need a service. I have purchased the connector and software to diagnose the LPG system but don’t have the experience to use this.
Slight engine oil leak noted over many years of previous MOTs but does not drip or need topping up. Also cracked front number plate advisory.
The exhaust may need replacing within the next few years.
The asking price reflects these issues.

This Delica sleeps two adults in comfort plus small children (or the dog) in the kitchen area. Alternatively the rear kitchen area with its central aisle lends itself to the use of a rear awning or tent.
A side awning with windbreaks is included which can fit to the roofrack over the side sliding door.
The LPG conversion has a large underslung tank that also supplies the two burner gas hob, the 2kw Propex heating system and the outdoor camping grill/oven/BBQ (included) which plugs into an external gas port. No need for gas bottles or heater fuel taking up space inside the van.
Thule roof bars currently supporting a large solar panel (Solar Panel 300W charges at 10.3A or more in bright sunlight) but previously used for a roof tent.
Solar panel (MPPT Solar Charge Controller EPever 20A ) to charge leisure batteries (200AH Lifepo4 battery with Battery Management System equivalent to 400AH of lead acid…. ) and Stirling Power 30A battery-to-battery charger. There is an RCD protected 3kw pure sine wave 230V inverter to run a double three pin and USB side socket by the rear seats and a further extension lead with 4 x three pin 230v sockets.
240V electrical hookup external socket.
The front passenger captains seat rotates and has storage for a fire extinguisher behind it (included). Both front seats can fold flat to make part of the double bed along with the middle seats. This allows you to keep the kitchen clear for making your morning cup of tea from the bed. Alternatively if you wish to keep the front seats in their driving positions you can use the middle seats plus a board over the rear kitchen and side facing bench seat which are made the same height for exactly this reason. A high quality 230v electric self inflating/deflating double airbed (190 x 140cm) is included which evens out the gaps and bumps in the fold down seat and makes for a very comfortable adjustable sleeping platform.
The two rear seats have armrests and headrests and an additional fold out jump seat to provide a total of 5 belted seats in the vehicle. The rear seats can rotate 90 degrees to make a comfy side facing sofa, or 180 degrees to make rear facing conference/dining seats. The rear seats also fold flat to make the double bed.
In the rear of the van there is a custom kitchen unit to one side with two LPG gas burners and a sink with an electric cold tap and drainage to the outside. The 3kw inverter provides power enough for a microwave or fryer should these desired and there is wiring for a portable fridge. Storage space and leisure battery underneath.
On the other side of the rear central aisle is a bench seat with storage underneath for a portable toilet (not included) and window blinds. The 2kw Propex LPG heater has a remote controller on the wall above. The rear of the bench seat matches the kitchen worktop and pulls out to make a fully adjustable dining table/desk which can be used to seat four people comfortably inside, or swung out through the side sliding door to make an outside bar in the side awning area.
The bench seat and kitchen are the same height to allow a board (not included) to be put over the top of them to make a sleeping platform. It also means you can cook while comfortably sitting on the bench seat, standing outside the van, or even when lying in bed.
There is an overhead twin locker with sliding doors to match the kitchen unit, with switched LED lighting inside and out.
There are overhead 12V LED lights, battery fire alarm, fire blanket and extinguisher. There is a battery carbon monoxide alarm but this may need updating.
A full set of custom made insulated black out window blinds is included.
Please note the camper conversion including the electrics were carried out by the first UK owner who used it for many years with his climbing and cycling companions before wanting to build himself a bigger van. Everything appears to work but I have no idea how! The van would be of particular interest to a likeminded person who would enjoy adding their own personal touches.
I have enjoyed it like this but am now moving on to a pop top Delica camper.
