TOYOTA HIACE 280 D4D SWB
This is the super reliable Turbo diesel 2.5 D4D Toyota engine 5 gears with low mileage at 129k miles. The base van and cab are in excellent condition.
This van has been well looked after mainly owned by the council for most of it’s life with regular vehicle health checks before I bought it about 4 years ago. The engine is in excellent condition. It has good Toyota main dealer service/maintenance history and good MOT history.
MOT until 1st May 2026.
I have continued to service it. It came to me fully serviced. The cam belt was also done at 90k. Excellent tyres, excellent bodywork. It has 3 belted seats in the front (middle seat is a lap strap).
When I bought the van it was 1980kg (ish). The maximum laden weight is 2,800kg.
Toyota Hiace SWB, Diesel manual 5 gears, 2 berth, 2009 Professionally converted by Woodhacker in Wales (check her out!).
This van is super reliable. I’m using it to drive to work currently. Originally converted by Woodhacker Wales. Done 129k miles but I’m using it daily. Serviced annually. GSH before me. Always passes MOT. Stored indoors over winter. Some rust spots / scratches as you’d expect for the age. This van will outlive me if it is looked after properly. Just google it!! They can do over a million miles. It’s had one rust prevention treatment for the underneath last year.
This is the super reliable Turbo diesel 2.5 Toyota engine. The base van is in excellent condition and the cab is in excellent condition also. This van has been well looked after. It has good Toyota main dealer service/maintenance history and good MOT history. Excellent tyres, excellent bodywork. It has 3 belted seats in the front (middle seat has a lap strap). This is a stunning, one-of-a-kind, beautiful rustic brand new Toyota Hiace campervan conversion. Professionally converted to a 2 berth campervan.
It can be used completely off grid. The solar panel and leisure battery are enough to charge phones, fridge, laptop and the in built lights.
The layout is designed to incorporate as much storage and functional living space as possible so that it works for long trips away from home with lots of stuff in a van. It is also small enough to be used as an everyday run around or for a quick stealthy escape for a night or two on a weekend. It is a SWB and is easy to drive and easy to park.
The van is fully insulated and with a vapour barrier and has been clad in Tongue and groove which has been painted in Eggshell. The interior has been built with new and reclaimed timber to a high standard.
The L shaped seating area makes it feel quite roomy for a small van. The table drops down on hinges and when closed it becomes a door for the shelving above so things stay secure when driving. Below there is further storage. I pack this area full of food during trips and then it becomes the kitchen cupboard whilst away.
The seating is spacious so that 2 adults can lounge stretched out on the seats with plenty of room. The back bench is fixed and has a lift up lid to access storage inside the van as well as a little door. This area is also accessible from the back outside and the seat flips out 180 degrees so that it an be used as a table outside which is supported with a chain. It is perfect for outdoor dining/drinks etc. With the side and back door open the wind travels through so even on the hottest of days the van is cool to sit in. In 30 degree heat my daughter spent days in it just reading.
The other bench slides out easily to create a double bed that is 6′ long by 4′ wide using the seating cushions. The cushions are foam with a layer of memory foam and are covered with fire retardant upholstery fabric. I have a 4 foot x 6 foot memory foam mattress topper that I roll away, with 2 x single duvets in the day (with a made to measure matching zipped bag). This is then used as a Sofa in awning during the day. This is included if requested.
There is also lots of storage underneath the pull-out bench which can be accessed from inside, this storage area is also accessible from the back door and runs the full length of the bench seat so that longer things can be stored.
The kitchen has a full-length reclaimed pine worktop. The double hob sits under a section that hinges up when in use. The hob can easily be moved for outdoors cooking also. When we’re away the hob, and storage units get moved into the awning. This reduces set up and packing up time.
Another section hinges upwards to access storage below and the leisure battery.
The van is designed to be Off grid with a solar set up. There is a 100W Solar panel which charges the 110ah Leisure battery. 3 x LED spot lights, touch sensitive and dimmable. There are USB charging points and a 12v cigarette lighter socket for the cool box which all run off of the solar. This power is enough to charge the lights, a fridge, phones etc. It has only ever once run out of charge and that’s when I left on a 12V heated blanket by mistake. It took a few hours to charge back up. I have bought a Jackery battery (500w) and solar panel (100w) which I use in the awning (£650 new). This charges the battery that powers the fridge. This is included! The “Alpricool” G22 fridge is included (£189 new). It has an ice section which is handy for that afternoon G&T !!
The van has 10 litre fresh and 10 litre waste water on-board that is easily accessible. And a copper tap operated by a Whale foot pump. This is super handy for washing hands, brushing teeth and washing face late at night.
The Vango Air hex awning in the pictures is included in the sale. I have sewn velcro straps into it to line up with the van. It was £1,400 new. The Vango Air Hex has straps to throw over the van, larger velcro straps to attach to roof bars. It also has the C rail attachment method. Never used that but a c-rail could easily be added to this van. This also comes with a groundsheet, all the pegs, the bag and the carpet. Please note the carpet has been made from another tent carpet, stuck together with duck tape. Works fine and you wouldn’t know it’s a patchwork. It’s free anyway !!
Woodhacker Wales has sold many vans and you can look up her other work and testimonials on Facebook and Instagram. They are all beautiful.
I have added/made the following additions:
* Made to measure curtain between cab and main area
* Made to measure fitted sheet (sort of an L shape bed, 4 foot x 6 foot, with extra bit sticking out at the end).
* Added a USB charging vanity mirror (with light) that can be swung in and out of the van depending on where you need to use it
* Elastic strap at the back to stop the cushion from the sofa falling out
* Replaced sink pipes with food grade tubes
* Made blackout, velcro window cover for porthole with matching cushions.
* Made blackout, thermal lined, velvet one sided window blinds for back window, front window and each car door window. When all of these are attached it is pitch black.
* Made another cover (attached on the outside) for the back window so not even a chink of light comes through.
* Tow bar (cost £380)
All of the above will be included.
** This van is available at £13,800 or nearest offer **

L shaped seating area that easily slides out to form a small double 6’1″ x 4′ wide. Included is a made to measure fitted sheet.
I have a 5cm deep roll out memory foam mattress (in the exact size of the bed) that I use with a made to measure bag for storage (matching colours). This is included.
4″ Foam cushions with memory foam layer upholstered in fire retardent upholstery fabric
Potential for a cab bunk for a child.
Although the bed is 185cm there is a void at the end of the van (about 10cm x 10cm x 135cm wide) where I’ve made a foam cushion. This makes the bed slightly longer. My husband is 6 foot 2 and sleeps perfectly well in it.
