Charming off-grid cabin on wheels

The interior of this van is a genuine head-turner. It is a gloriously unabashed homage to cabinesque off-grid living, built using largely recycled materials. For example, the whole living area has been clad in sanded and oiled pallet wood. The sink is built from an iroko hardwood desk salvaged from an old school chemistry lab, the two seats were previously bedside tables and the chest of drawers was rescued from a pile of unwanted furniture. Drawers and cupboards feature Indian ceramic knobs or salvaged cabinet name plates.

This unique van has travelled all over the UK as well as France and Spain and its pulling power never ceases to amaze us. Because it is RWD it has extra ground clearance for those times when the tarmac runs out and the going gets a bit bumpy.

It is set up for off-grid camping and has never struggled to provide us with the power we require via the solar panels and the 70L water tank has supplied us with water for well over 2 weeks. There is a surprising amount of storage both inside the van and in the storage area/garage under the bed. We have travelled with 2 seasons of clothes as well as all the other usual paraphernalia for epic trips abroad and yet, fully laden with fuel, water, and us, it still weighs under 3.5t.

This is a 59 plate van so the paintwork is not immaculate. There are some tiny patches of rust but nothing to worry about. She;s good to go.

Room description
The van is fully insulated and has sound deadening. It is kitted out with appliances and services required for off-grid travels that include:

Layout & Design
The first thing you will notice is the amount that has been packed into the interior without a compromise on space:

Bedroom
The bedroom consists of a full sized double memory foam mattress and ample shelving bins for clothes and other belongings. As well as overhead LED spot lighting it also has flexible reading lights, a fire extinguisher, carbon monoxide sensor, additional shelf, wiring for additional usb charging point and even a laundry chute. Additional ventilation and light are obtained via a roof vent

Dining Room
The dining area is formed of two chairs with storage underneath and a pull-out table for dining or working. The fridge freezer is housed in a pull-out drawer and a portable toilet can be stored in a floor cupboard. The inverter is accessed from an additional cupboard. The area is also served by 4 USB points, the master inverter switch, and a battery power level indicator

Kitchen
The L-shaped kitchen incorporates a sink with ample under-sink storage as well as a Fiamma 70-litre fresh water tank, Sureflo Trail King 7 water pump, and a Seaflow expansion accumulator. There are also a 2-ring gas hob, work surfaces, shelving, chopping board holder, magnetic knife strip, large overhead storage bins and 2 deep drawers for food storage. Access to the cab is via a removable curtain. A fire extinguisher and fire blanket are also included. The area benefits from a roof vent and fan which can either expel cooking smells and heat or pull in cool air from outside.

Garage/Rear storage under the bed
Accessible from the back doors, this section is where a lot of the main van services are stored. These

Cab Area
The bulkhead has been removed and blocked using a curtain thus providing a combination of privacy, practicality and safety and all windows have custom removable insulated reflector blinds. Not only is the van extremely easy to drive but it also benefits from a rear view camera
