After three incredible years, the time has come for us to very reluctantly sell our VW T6 camper, Cyril.
This van has genuinely been our pride and joy. It started life as a brand-new bespoke conversion by the highly regarded Spartan Campers and has since been upgraded with a huge amount of carefully chosen extras.
It isn’t just a camper that looks great parked on the drive — we’ve actually used it for what it was built for. Cyril has taken our family across Europe, through the Alps and as far as Croatia, giving us some absolutely incredible adventures along the way.
THE CAMPER
The interior is beautifully finished and has everything needed for weekends away, long holidays or proper off-grid adventures:

The off-grid setup has been brilliant. We’ve stayed off-grid for up to five days without running out of power, making it a genuinely usable camper rather than something that needs to be permanently attached to a campsite hook-up.
THE VAN
The T6 itself has also been very well specified and upgraded:
* Air conditioning
* Cruise control
* Electric windows
* Electrically adjustable/heated mirrors
* Pioneer touchscreen with Apple CarPlay
* Reversing camera
* Tow bar
* Van Slam adjustable coilovers
* Big break kit with vented discs
* Wolfrace Sahara alloy wheels
* BFGoodrich Trail-Terrain tyres – including matching fifth wheel
* Rear-mounted spare-wheel carrier
* Professionally remapped to approximately 170 bhp
The remap was deliberately kept sensible. I wanted a little more pulling power for travelling fully loaded through places such as the Alps, rather than chasing outright performance. Despite the extra power, this van has spent its life being driven sensibly and has rarely even been over 70 mph.
MAINTENANCE & HISTORY
This is something I’m particularly proud of.
Cyril has wanted for very little during our ownership, and I’ve always dealt with things properly rather than cutting corners.
Recent work includes:
* EGR valve replaced
* New clutch and flywheel last year
* All injectors replaced approximately two years ago
* Air-conditioning condenser replaced last year
* Brand-new MOT
* Huge folder containing service history, invoices and receipts
Mileage: approximately 101,000 miles.
Don’t let the mileage put you off. This van drives beautifully and has been maintained exceptionally well. Anyone who knows me will tell you I’m probably slightly too precious about it!
THE EXTRAS
I also have a trailer that we’ve used with Cyril. If the buyer of the van would like it, I’m happy to offer it to them separately at a discounted price before advertising it elsewhere.
WHY ARE WE SELLING?
Quite simply, our family adventures have outgrown him.
I’m moving on to a VW Crafter that I’m going to convert into our next family adventure van, otherwise Cyril wouldn’t be going anywhere.
This is going to be a genuinely sad van to watch drive away.
We’ve travelled thousands of miles in Cyril, including an unforgettable trip all the way to Croatia and back. He’s carried us through mountains, campsites, beaches and countless weekends away and has never missed a beat.
There are cheaper T6 campers out there. There are probably newer ones too.
But if you’re looking for a beautifully converted, properly equipped, extensively maintained camper that’s already proven itself on real adventures, this one is worth coming to see.
We’re not just looking for someone to buy Cyril.
We’d love to see him go to somebody who’s going to pack him up, point him towards somewhere new and make their own memories and adventures in him. ❤️🚐
Cyril was professionally converted into a full 4-berth camper by Spartan Campers and has been further upgraded during my ownership.
The conversion includes a pop-top roof with additional sleeping space, rock-and-roll bed, double swivel front passenger seat, sink, gas hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, diesel heater, lithium leisure battery, inverter, 230V hookup, independent 12V system and LED lighting throughout.
There is plenty of storage, including overhead lockers, under-bed storage and a full-height wardrobe. A removable table provides a useful dining/work area, and the layout works really well for both weekends away and longer trips.
The lithium setup means the van is genuinely capable off-grid, and we have comfortably spent several days away without needing hookup.
The interior was built to a high standard with tailored seating and has been very well looked after. It has been used as a family camper rather than a work van and remains extremely clean inside.
