Ford Transit Arctic Off-Grid Adventure 4x4 AWD L3H3 Camper

Our 4-wheel drive van was converted to be fully off-gird and be comfortable for 2 people to live in very cold conditions, for example an alpine ski season.

Kitchen:
There is a well kitted out kitchen including a full sized sink with mixer tap, a large 90L compressor fridge including freezer compartment, 2 portable induction hobs, a full sized microwave combi oven, a bin, plenty of bespoke food and kitchen storage and under cabinet lighting. The cab seats swivel and a dining table flips down when needed.

Bathroom / water:
A Nature’s head composting toilet lives inside the shower and is intended to be lifted out when showering. The shower is a good size with a well pressured mixer head and sits above a 40L waster water tank which can be used if it is not possible to dump waste water directly outside. The water tanks total 200L. The shower is fitted with plenty of pegs to hang wet coats or towels. The hot water is heater on electric.

Bedroom:
Above the foot of the bed is a large cabinet for storing clothes and other items in draw like boxes. The head of the bed holds a removable foam insert to allow you to sit up comfortably in the bed, and then is removed to access to the full length of the mattress when lying down to sleep. There are 2 bungee storage pouches on each side of the bed for a bedside table alternative.

Heating / Insulation:
Van is fully insulated to a very high standard to allow for overnight stays in below freezing temperatures like at alpine ski resorts. An insulated wall separates the bed from the boot, and thermal window covers and floor to ceiling curtains protect the living area from the sliding door and cab area. The excessive insulation also stops the interior getting too hot when on summer trips to warmer climates. The van is fitted with an Autoterm 4kW Diesel Heater which is programmable. There is a vent with a fan above the bed and an opening window by the kitchen. A carbon monoxide detector is fitted above the seat.

Electric:
The van is extremely capable off-grid. It has 300Ah lithium battery capacity fitted with heat pads for cold conditions. The solar on the roof totals 880W and there is also a DC-DC changer which charges the batteries when driving. The inverter can output a max of 3kW for mains appliances such as the water heater and cooking facilities.

Boot / Garage:
The garage holds the majority of the electric and water systems and there is still ample space for all your tools and adventuring gear. There is storage for 2 jerry cans and the full height boot also has space and fixings to hang 2 bikes inside. There is a spare wheel and new aggressive tyres great for mud and snow (235/65/16 115/113 michelin AGILIS ALPIN). The spare wheel is fulled sized with a steel rim with the same tyres, identical to the 4 other wheels.
