Ford Transit Custom L2 H2 (2014 2.2)
This is the reliable 2014 2.2 TDCI Transit Custom which have the desirable chain, rather than the troublesome wet belt in 2016+ models. Drives fantastically and has been very reliable for me. The body work is nice and clean for it’s age. I have service history during my ownership in April 2024, which has consistently been done every 9-12 months. Last service was in April. Happy for anyone to plug in an OBD reader and take it for an extended test drive on inspection.
I have created a beautiful lightweight conversion featuring natural materials, many of which are up-cycled, including two beautiful slabs of spalted beech. As you can see sections of the grain came out like walnut with deep and rich brown swirls. The ceiling was a lengthy process but it’s completely unique with a curve above the cooker to gain a few inches of standing height. The build prioritised comfort and good sleep, for use in British winter or summer alike. I have tested it in the Lakes, Scotland and North Wales and it’s been faultless. Due to the aesthetic details it’s very pleasant to spend time in even if the weather turns. The bench is large and can host 4 for dinner, and extremely luxurious for sleeping in due to the depth of the cushions. Everything build in a modular fashion so it’s easy to remove anything and access all areas. The table is a beautiful resin pour over some live edge slats to match the ceiling.

The back of the bench is on joist hangers so it can be easily removed if you wish to use the van for carrying anything
Solar cabling run, I have a new panel and solar charger which I have not installed as I did not require it so far
Good for winter trips as well as summer due to the extent of insulation and the heater – in the summer I just open the back and side doors and you feel as if you’re sitting in nature if you have found a good park up! However I designed this to allow the next owner to add more windows and remove the bulk head without it damaging the current design if they prefer. However I preferred the stealth and improved insulation properties of my current set up.

I bought this van at circa 103,000 miles in April 2024. I have conducted regular services during my ownership along with brake pad replacements. When not cycling, it is my only vehicle and it’s driven regularly. This van has been very reliable for me and I am happy to do extended test drives and OBD reading with anyone, just let me know what makes you feel comfortable. Only selling as this was always my plan, convert, enjoy for a few trips and then move on. I’ll miss it deeply, it’s rare to find wood that beautiful.

The bed is super king size and features 14cm of foam (10cm firm foam with 4 cm high grade memory foam). It is extremely comfortable. Best for 1-2 adults but a younger child could also share with a couple due to the size. It is created in the classic dinette style as can be seen from the photos. Ie, the table sits on rails to fill in th U shape bench and the side cushions plug the gap. This was upholstered in heavyweight upholstery fabric by a professional. It features zips on all covers for washing purposes. I have always used this with a topper and a sheet for protection / hygiene of the cushions.
