Ford Transit L3H3 Trend FWD Manual
This vehicle has the larger of the two engine sizes fitted by Ford which means it is comfortably sufficient even when fully loaded. The 155bhp turbocharged diesel (chain timing) will cruise at motorway speeds up and down dale returning a steady 30mpg average – very useful for covering large distances to get to a holiday destination quickly.
The vehicle size means it can park in town and at supermarkets.
The emissions class is EU 5 which currently allows access to ULEZ cities in Germany by the simple purchase of a green badge (Umweltplakette) for £20-30 for a year or in France a Crit’Air badge (£4) which lasts the lifetime of the vehicle.
The vehicle had 94k miles at purchase in Nov 2020 and now has 118k – at about 5k per year. Main Ford dealer serviced and maintained whilst in our possession.
MOT expires 18/04/26. Bodywork is excellent and rust free with factory fitted windows. The ‘Trend’ model means cruise control, phone/music synchronisation, SatNav, voice control, and corner tracking headlights.
Conversion has followed the standard path with comprehensive insulation, tough washable flooring, wooden panelled walls and pine ceiling. Longitudinal seating allows 5 adults to sit comfortably around the stowable table. There are two individual, optional belted seats which bolt securely to the professionally installed floor rails when needed. The driver’s cab has three OEM belted seats.
The kitchen worktop contains a flush fitting Vitrifrigo TL43 Top Loading FridgeFreezer. We leave it running at +5c 24/7 with no impact on the solar/battery system. A deep sink drains to a 25l grey water plastic jerry can and is fed by on demand tap from the 25l fresh water jerry can by a Shurflo electric pump. The water containers are easily removed for filling or discharging. The Thetford Triplex 4 ring Gas Grill Oven completes the worktop. This is clean and tidy as it has been generally under utilised by choice!
Gas is stored in a sealed compartment accessible through the rear doors. The whole system installed by a professional Safe Gas fitter and Certified accordingly (expires 27/06/26). Two Butane 4.5kg cylinders allows one to be available at all times while the other is replaced. We find one cylinder will last us 3-4 weeks.
There are multiple sets of LED lights throughout. A genuine Eberspächer diesel heater run directly from the vehicle tank can provide more than enough warmth. A powerful MAXXFan Deluxe roof ventilator with remote control can be left running all night in hot climes. USB-c and USB-a charging points are available.
All leisure electrics run from a large 160ah Lead Carbon battery designed to tolerate deeper discharge, if ever required, without damage . The electrics infrastructure is 100% Victron Energy accessible via mobile phone app including:
MPPT 100/30 Smart Solar charger
Orion-Tr Smart 12/30 DC-DC charger
BV Battery Monitor and display
Victron IP65 12/25 Battery 230v Charger
Victron Energy Solar Panel 360W – 24V Mono series Solar Panel.
The system has never caused the battery to dip below 90% charged even with devices left running all night. This is also why we have never had to use the installed backup shore power, which otherwise supplies two standard UK 3-pin mains plugs in the cabin.
This is a spacious vehicle with internal headroom 2.07m (6′ 9″). The adult bed is set longitudinally which gives a huge bed length (1.9m) and width (1.73). (6′ 2′ x 5′ 8″). There are two optional bunk beds at (1.6m x 0.5m) or (5′ 3′ x 20″) which are only suitable for small children – probably < 10yrs. These can be stowed away when not in use.

Quirky loves this style means that Quirky Campers would potentially approve this vehicle for hiring. However, Quirky have not approved a Gas Safe certificate, a Weighbridge certificate, or the vehicle's electrics. Buyers must check these themselves. For some tips on what to look out for, read this. If the listing has no Gas Safe certificate, no unladen weight and no electrical sign-off, please proceed with caution!
