Hymer B544 Motorhome (LHD, 1999, German import)

A fantastic example of a 1999 Hymer B544.
Fiat Ducato II on a 230 platform. 2.8 litre TDI 122hp 8140.43 diesel engine (mechanical injection).
L: 6.06m. W: 2.27m. H: 2.9m.
Tyres/Wheel: 215/70 R15.
Registered in Germany in August 1999. Imported to the UK in 2004. Left-hand drive.
Odometer now shows 136,697 km (approximately 82,000 miles). I have lots of service records – all of mine and many from earlier UK ownership. I can supply email copies of these on request.
Original Hymer documentation, and the van still has its original German stickers inside the cupboards. I have all of the original Hymer seat covers, carpets and curtains.

Full service and MOT April 2025. The only advisory was exhaust mount rubbers! I have refitted them all-round.
Last timing belt change: 15 July 2025.

Replaced and upgraded all suspension components. Front: mounts, bump stops, struts and coils; Rear: leaf springs, bump stops, shocks and bolts.
New alternator (Jul 24). New Lucas cab battery (Nov 24).
New engine radiator (Aug 25). New air conditioning condenser panel (Aug 25).
4 x Continental Tyres last summer. Less than 5,000 km from new.
4G router fitted in 2019 – this Huawei 74AB router is getting older now but still works well.
Refillable LPG tanks (total 44kg) plus set of Euro adapters.
Three-way Dometic fridge (12v, 240v, LPG) removed and fully serviced Jun 25. Gas jet/nozzle replaced.
140L diesel fuel tank for long-distance driving.
Sparco removable steering wheel.
Six “proper” diagonal seat belts but, honestly I would say only five sleeping berths…go figure!
Three-burner gas hob – it has no oven!
Microwave unit above sink.
Twin leisure battery set up. 90/100Ah. ONe under driver’s seat and the other under the long seat. Small (150W inverter included).
Thetford cassette toilet (only used by me for number 1s. No number 2s…IYKYK).
Shower works, although I tend not to use it.
Pull-out scooter rack with refurbished LED units.
Crit’air registration: 5

Extras included:
Milenco step.
Levelling ramps.
25m electric hook up cable plus many adapters.
5m water-grade hose.
Spares: bulbs, fluorescent tubes, water pump, trim.

Things I know are “wrong”:
Fuel/Water sensor has been blanked off as it shorted out in Apr 25. This is not really an issue with modern fuel standards, but a new OEM part is currently on backorder with Coastal Motorhomes. You might find a cheaper aftermarket version.
Dashboard temp sensor is occasionally “lively”. This is a well-documented Ducato II issue. The engine temp sensor works perfectly and so I have never had any overheating issues. I’ve not bothered with this intermittent “fault” as it has never been a concern to me. A new sensor is not expensive.
Front bumper lacquer is flaking. Another fairly common issue. This has been caused by age and hard frosts. This would have been next on my “to do” list. Also, scratch on the plastic bumper OSF…it was there when I bought it (see picture).
I did not know the van had aircon until I replaced the radiator this month…and found the air con condenser, which I have also replaced. I have never used the aircon and have no idea if it works.

This has been a fantastic vehicle for me. Owning the van has been a pleasure and great fun to drive, she always makes me smile. The LHD is easy to get used to. I am sad to be selling her but I am getting on a bit, have picked up a few health issues and, full-disclosure, 26 year old Hymers become more of a “project” than perhaps I want to handle anymore. I think she is in good shape, and I have fully and properly maintained her. Anything that has needed to be done, I have done (and often much more), however the van is “sold as seen”, and there are no warranties given or implied. You are welcome to carry out your own inspections (within reason) but at your own cost. It is time to pass her on to the next Hymer enthusiast. Go well.
