Campervans for Sale Mercedes Sprinter LWB 2011 (Big Mac the Merc)
Mercedes Sprinter 313 LWB
The engine size is 2143cc and has a six speed gear box. The van has recently been serviced due to an engine management light that was on; it was only a faulty pressure sensor that caused the management light to come on.
As to be expected for a van that is 15 years old, ‘Big Mac’ has some small areas of rust/corrosion, but nothing significant. Some elbow grease and patience might even work some of these out. MOT is due November 2026. We have owned the van since 2021. Prior to this, the DPF was removed. Big Mac runs really well and we have had him serviced with MOT each year we have owned him. Two of the seats are in the rear of the van that we have bolted down; we have put Sprinter seats in with seatbelts.
We applied to have the van type changed via the DVLA to a ‘motor-caravan’ based on his looks and all the works done to him. However, they refused to change the type to anything other than ‘van with windows’ because we have not put stickers onto the outside of the van to make it look like a caravan. This would be relatively easy to amend if you wish; we just prefer him without stickers!
We (hubby and I- hubby is a joiner) started this conversion in 2021. Our family has grown since then and now the four of us use the van regularly. The van has seats for 5, with storage underneath the seats in the front and rear. 3 bunk beds are fitted; storage is available underneath the bottom one. Each bed has a drinks holder, light and storage rack. The top one is quite small and is often used as an extra storage area when we don’t have cousins travelling with us. There is overhead storage across the kitchen and above the cab unit. A drawer under the bottom bunk bed stores toys and colouring books!
The kitchen has three cupboard and one drawer unit, large sink with water filter and manoeuvrable tap; removable sink lid providing extra work surface area and an additional pop-up work table at the end to be used from the rear seats. There is a two-ring gas hob and dometic fridge.
The adaptable bed at the back allows for eating inside the van and converting this into a double bed. This has USB charging sockets with the reading lights and a shelf. A smart TV with hidden Playstation unit (not included) are also at the end of the van.
The internal double shower head provides facilities on the go, with a thetford cassette toilet. There is an additional extractor fan in the bathroom and hooks/storage for shower essentials.
The cab has a head unit with USB charging ports, reversing camera, 240v socket, screen and window covers, light, coat hooks and washing link, fire extinguisher and under seat storage.
The ‘garage’ has a sealed gas cupboard with drop vent and 2 6kg calor gas cylinders. A truma boiler for heating and hot water is situated here, with solar panel controls, 2kw inverter, water pump, water outlet, 2x 190AH 12v AGM batteries.
Externally, the 300kw solar panel, eletric hook up, water tank inlet, awning rail and dish for tv/radio. Included is also a VANGO Kelia 5 awning with bedroom compartment. This is in good condition- there are a few marks on the awning, but nothing that affects usage.
We are selling due to wanting to switch to a caravan, so it will be a very sad sale, but we want it to go to another family for them to enjoy.
Big Mac has a rear seating area for 5 people that converts into a double bed for 2 adults and the front of the van has three single beds for younger children.
