After eight years of family adventures, we’re selling our professionally converted 2006 Volkswagen T30 2.5 TDI automatic campervan.

We bought the van in 2018 through Kamper Vanz in Worksop, who completed the full professional camper conversion for us. It was subsequently registered with the DVLA as a Motor Caravan, and we have owned it continuously ever since.

It has approximately 125,000 miles, full service history, MOT until February 2027 and has been regularly maintained by the same local garage throughout our ownership.

This is a genuine four-berth family camper rather than simply a day van, with two double sleeping areas, an M1/crash-tested rear travelling seat, full kitchen, Webasto diesel heating, Dometic equipment, leisure/mains electrics and plenty of fitted storage.

Sleeping four

The camper has two separate double sleeping areas.

The elevating pop-top contains a double bed, providing a separate sleeping space above the main living area.

Downstairs, the professionally installed rear travelling seat converts into the second double bed.

Because we bought the camper to use with our children, one of our priorities during the conversion was ensuring that the rear travelling seat was M1/crash tested rather than fitting an uncertified rock-and-roll bed.

The front passenger seat swivels when parked to become part of the living space, and blackout curtains are fitted throughout.

Living area

The professional Kamper Vanz conversion has a practical side-kitchen layout with a surprisingly generous amount of living space for a SWB T30.

The new leisure battery means the habitation electrical system is ready for the next owner rather than being an immediate replacement job.

Pop top and awning

The elevating roof provides both the upstairs double bed and substantially more standing/head room when camping.

A permanently fitted Dometic pull-out side awning is included with the van and can be deployed in minutes to provide useful shade or shelter without putting up a separate awning.

Technology

Condition

This is a 2006 vehicle and we want to describe it accurately.

The camper has recently been professionally cleaned and presents very well, while the converted interior is in particularly good condition.

Externally, there are the normal signs of age associated with a 20-year-old T5, including:

– Some alloy-wheel kerbing/scuffing
– Minor scratches and stone chips
– Cosmetic wear/damage around one exterior door-handle surround
– Several small areas of previously treated/touched-up surface rust

There has been no welding that we are aware of.

Rather than photograph it strategically and hope nobody notices, we’ve included representative close-up photographs of the cosmetic imperfections so there should be no surprises when somebody travels to view it.

Mechanically, it has been regularly maintained throughout our ownership and has already had the significant expense of a replacement automatic gearbox.

Our ownership

We’ve owned the camper continuously since purchasing it and having it professionally converted in 2018.

It was set up specifically as a safe and practical family camper and has been used for family holidays and trips ever since.

We’re selling simply because our circumstances and the way we holiday have changed, so it isn’t getting the use it once did.
