The van was originally a Scottish and Southern Electric gas fitter’s van, fully racked out.
I chose this van because it hadn’t had heavy use. The passenger seats looked unused and the milage is low.
The van comes with 2 keys.
This brand new, high spec conversion uses a limited palette of materials, oak, birch ply, leather and aluminium, to create a sleek interior with a huge amount of storage. Leather accents and a variety of mood and task lights are used throughout the interior to give a luxury finish. All of the furniture is bespoke and solidly hand built with looks and function in mind. The layout provides a huge amount of storage, including a spacious wardrobe and large storage area accessed from the rear doors. Many of the edges of furniture are radiused for comfort when moving around the van. Locks for the drawers and cupboards are also low profile for maximum user comfort.
The floor, bulkhead panel behind the passenger seats and step up to the raised bed area are solid oak for durability and to add to the look. The bespoke kitchen unit has a 36mm thick birch ply wrap-around worktop with a matching pull-out worktop extension/table. This has been coated (twice) in epoxy resin so that it is completely watertight and impervious to water and UV. There is a stainless steel sink with cold water tap and a twin burner hob in matching stainless steel. One unique feature of this conversion is the back of the kitchen unit with its protective steel panel. This is colour matched to the rest of the van exterior and again is robust and weatherproof. This panel houses an external 16A socket for accessories outside the van and the external shower socket. Inside the kitchen there are 3 kitchen drawers including a spacious cutlery drawer, which is colour matched to the rest of the van interior and a very deep pan drawer. The kitchen unit also houses two 240V sockets and the fridge. Splashbacks are in aluminium to match the kickboards at the base. LED task and floor lighting is built in.
The centre piece is the leather sofa with two deep storage drawers and even a leather clad drinks cabinet underneath! One drawer stores the thermal blinds for front windows which are included in the sale. LED reading lights are positioned above the sofa. 240 Volt sockets with USB are built in to the armrest area.
The bedroom area has separate mood and reading lights. The high density foam mattress has a fitted denim cover. The recessed headboards are fitted with worsted lining below leather-lined storage pockets with USB chargers. There is a ventilation fan above the bed with upcycled, vintage Mercedes hubcap cover and uplighter. At the rear of the bed is a second pull-out worksurface.
In the living area, other storage includes over-cab lockers, over-sofa shelf with built in LED uplighter and wine glass storage, wardrobe, toilet storage cupboard with tambour door. Matching leather storage pockets are built into the sliding door. Under the bed there are two large drawers and shoe storage under the bedroom step. The van cab has the usual under seats storage and lockable glovebox. Under the bed, the boot is the full width of the van and houses the gas safe, 24L drinking water storage and the leisure battery and charger.
