Beautifully converted fully off-grid campervan featuring 4G Wi-Fi, Smart TV (for Netflix and Amazon, etc), shower and toilet, hot and cold water, solid oak worktop with gas hob, dog area under bed and 2 x front swivel seats. This camper was built and completed by Darren at Built Campers (www.builtcampers.co.uk) in July 2021 and I took receipt of the van in August 2021. I am now selling up due to needing a larger and, unfortunately, boring and more conventional motorhome due to a growing family.

So what have I loved about owning / using this van?

– It’s extremely comfortable. With the front two chairs swivelled around it really opens up the inside of the van and allows you to maximise the space, whether that’s putting your feet up on the bench to watch TV, looking out of the sliding door to watch the world go by on a warm day or simply by being able to face your partner when he/she is making the fajitas in the kitchen!
– The van is versatile in that it can comfortably accommodate 4 people (5 at a stretch) for lunch, dinner or drinks thanks to the swivel front seats and bench. The swivel / rotating table can be set to many different positions to suit your need at that moment and is perfect for working from.
– This truly is an off-grid campervan and many times have we taken this somewhere where mains electricity is not available. The underslung gas tank and Truma Combi heater is just great for heating water for the shower, washing up, heating the van, cooking the food, etc, and a full tank of gas seems to last for ages. It also only costs £6 to fill the tank up.
– The van itself drives extremely well and I have had a few mechanics / technicians tell me this. It has driven us effortlessly to locations such as the Peak District, Lake District the Isle of Harris and more.

THE BUILD

Fully insulated with 25mm PIR board in the floor, 50mm PIR board in the ceiling and 50mm PIR board/recycled bottle wool in the walls/doors
All insulation foil taped and covered with reflectix vapour barrier
Walls and ceiling are 6mm plywood grooved to look like tongue and groove cladding, meaning less weight and less movement in the wood
Floor is 12mm plywood covered with vinyl flooring
Furniture is made with 15mm lightweight poplar plywood
