Timber and Stitch campervans is husband and wife team, Jack and Colleen. It was born from our travels around Australia in 2010-2012, where we converted a 4×4 into our travel buddy. We absolutly loved the freedom and flexibility of your vehicle and accommodation in one package and when we returned to the UK, we immediately got thinking about how to integrate vanlife into our lives. Jump ahead a few years and we had built our first campervan and began renting it out. Since then we have continued to build campervans and have now been building them for over 10 years! We have built over 40 vans! so are one of the most experienced van builders in the UK.
Colleen is from a product design background, and Jack from Architecture. Jack being the main designer and builder, has a slightly different approach to campervan design, due to this architectural background. Ideas of space, light, and form are as important to conventional campervan ideas like maximising storage etc.
We love using mostly birch ply in our builds. Exposing the laminated edges in our carpentry, curving it in out walls, and using its lovely light coloured grain to bring brightness to the van. We also use other sheet materials, like lightweight poplar ply to help keep weight in check where necessary.
We love putting in signature features like exposed ply window reveals, extra lighting, and clever, and simplified design. Most of the builds we do are bespoke and totally customised to our customers needs and requirements. We do not have any set layouts, so can design the van of your dreams.
