2007 Fiat Ducato Maxi 2.3 JTD 35 MultiJet L3H2, 120bhp, six-speed manual diesel, with 94,000 miles.
The van has been consistently reliable throughout our ownership, starts easily and drives very well. The engine runs smoothly and the clutch is in very good condition.
Before our final trip, it was checked by a garage in Portugal and, after returning, was checked again by a separate garage in the UK. Service and maintenance records are available.
Rust has been regularly monitored and any affected areas were recently treated, with the rust removed and the surfaces resealed. The engine-cooling radiator and air-conditioning condenser have also recently been replaced.
The bodywork presents well overall for a 2007 vehicle, with some age-related cosmetic marks as expected. It has been well cared for and maintained with long-distance travel in mind.

This van was originally built by me, with the help of two professional carpenters, before my wife and I got married. We created it specifically to use for our honeymoon and to give us the freedom to travel and work out of the van for longer periods without sacrificing comfort.
After the wedding, we set off in it and travelled through France, Spain and Portugal, following the coast and discovering places we might never otherwise have visited. That journey ultimately led us to the part of Portugal we now call home, so the van has genuinely played a major role in shaping our lives.
The conversion became a real labour of love. I got fairly obsessed with getting the details right, so we used high-quality materials and dependable equipment throughout rather than choosing the cheapest options. The cabinetry was professionally built from birch plywood with stainless-steel fittings, alongside custom ash hardwood worktops and tables. The van is thoroughly insulated with sheep’s wool and sound-deadening material.
It was designed for long-term travel, off-grid living, remote working and surfing. The layout includes a comfortable living and working space, a full kitchen, heating, hot water, an internal shower and extensive storage.
As a surfer, I designed the custom aluminium roof box to securely carry surfboards, toolboxes and other bulky equipment. The solar panels form the lid, which lifts on mechanical gas struts, allowing the contents to remain protected, organised and easily accessible.
The 600Ah lithium battery bank, 750W solar, DC charging and shore setup were intentionally oversized so we would never have to worry about running out of electricity. In practice, it has worked exactly as planned. Even with both roof fans running throughout the day, along with the fridge, lights, internet equipment and other appliances, we have never come close to exhausting the battery.
Over the last few weeks, I have gone through the conversion carefully, touching up the paintwork and interior and improving the smaller details we noticed through real-world use. I want the next owner to be able to collect it and enjoy it without inheriting a list of unfinished jobs.
We had planned to keep it, but after moving to Portugal and recently having our first child, our circumstances have changed. The cost of permanently importing and registering it in Portugal is extremely high, so we have reluctantly decided to sell.
It is difficult to let go of because it gave us our honeymoon, took us on some unforgettable journeys and ultimately helped us discover our new home. We would love to see it go to someone who will look after it and take it on its next set of adventures.
