Managed to get your hands on a Glastonbury ticket but missed out on a campervan pass? Or perhaps you’d simply prefer somewhere a little quieter to return to at the end of the day.
Staying at an off-site campsite near Glastonbury Festival can be a great alternative to camping inside Worthy Farm. You can enjoy proper showers, allocated pitches, more space and a quieter night’s sleep, while still travelling into the Festival each day.
Glastonbury Festival 2027 takes place at Worthy Farm from Wednesday 23 June to Sunday 27 June 2027.
Why Stay Off-Site at Glastonbury?
Camping inside Glastonbury is all part of the experience, and general camping is included with your Festival ticket. However, the camping areas are huge, pitches aren’t pre-allocated and facilities can be fairly basic.
For families, groups arriving at different times, campervan travellers without an official campervan pass, or anyone who values a proper shower and a slightly better night’s sleep, an independent campsite can be a brilliant alternative.
Just remember that independent off-site campsites are not part of Glastonbury Festival itself, and you’ll still need a valid Festival ticket to enter Worthy Farm.

Cons
- You’ll need to travel into and out of the Festival each day

Official Glastonbury Campervan Pitches vs Off-Site Camping
If you want to stay in one of Glastonbury Festival’s official campervan fields, you’ll need a separate campervan/caravan ticket as well as your Festival ticket.
For 2027, official pitches cost £225 for a standard campervan/caravan pitch or £350 for a large pitch. Standard pitches are for live-in vehicles under 8m, while larger vehicles need to use the Bath & West Showground.
If you miss out, or simply prefer more facilities and a quieter base, booking an independent campsite nearby means you can still enjoy Glastonbury in your campervan.

Top Tips for Off-Site Camping at Glastonbury
Book early. Good off-site campsites can fill quickly once Festival tickets go on sale, particularly those within walking distance.
Check exactly how you’ll get to the Festival. A campsite described as “near Glastonbury” isn’t necessarily near a pedestrian gate. Look at walking times, shuttle arrangements and where you’ll actually be dropped off.
Check the last shuttle home. If you’re planning to stay until the early hours, make sure your campsite transport runs late enough.
Think about your campervan size. Some campsites have strict pitch or vehicle-length limits, so check before booking.
Take a power bank. Even where charging is available, you’ll probably appreciate having your own portable charger with you.
Pack for every type of weather. Waterproofs, decent footwear, sun cream and plenty of layers can all come in handy over a Glastonbury weekend.
Carry what you need for the whole day. Popping back to an off-site campervan for a forgotten jumper isn’t quite as easy as returning to a tent inside the Festival.
Save your campsite location and transport information. After a very long day at Worthy Farm, you’ll be grateful you did.
