Overview

Baysbrown Farm Campsite sits in the village of Chapel Stile at the entrance to the Great Langdale Valley, right in the heart of the Lake District National Park.

This is a working Lakeland sheep farm with a dedicated camping area. The site operates on a relaxed, first-come-first-served basis — there are no set pitches, so campers can simply arrive and choose their spot. Being at the valley bottom, the campsite is exposed to the elements, which can mean wet and windy conditions during a typical British summer, offering an experience that’s flexible and spontaneous depending on the weather.

The views from the campsite are breathtaking, and the valley is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts. It’s an ideal base for walking, climbing, bouldering, and ghyll scrambling. The Cumbria Way passes directly through the campsite, making it easy to run the trails or fells, swim in the tarns and becks, or bring your bike for some cycling adventures.

From Baysbrown Farm, you can easily explore the nearby villages of Ambleside, Coniston, Grasmere, and Hawkshead, all within a 15-minute drive.
