Vehicle Description

For sale: Ford Transit Custom Limited Spec 2018 (new shape) fully converted into a camper and ready for your summer travels.

The Van:
Being the limited spec (top of the range) this van has a lot of features to boast:
Heated seats
Cruise control
Air conditioning
Sat Nav built in
Apple car play
Bluetooth phone

This ensures the van is an extremely comfortable ride at all times of year. It has just been MOT’s and fully serviced.

The van gets great mileage and has the AdBlue system which enables it to enter low emissions zones without paying a fee.

I have added a tow bar – which has only been used to hold a bike rack and it also has 4 Michelin Cross Climate tyres which ensure traction in snow, icy and wet conditions and also make crossing camp site fields a doddle.

No expense has been spared in the conversion:
Electrics: The van has multiple 12V, USB and 240V sockets throughout. It can be connected to mains hookup to use the 240V sockets. There is also an inverter that allows some 240V appliances to run without the hookup. For example I have used this for my laptop while travelling and working.

Heating is from an underslung gas fired heater. This means both the gas bottle and heater are outside – under the chassis, rather that in the van taking up space and creating a risk. The gas does both the heater and the hob and is just topped up with normal LPG that is available at most petrol stations. No messing about with gas bottles and actuators, simply pull into a petrol station, connect up the hose and fill the gas – it lasts ages. I put £5 in last year and its still basically full. Heating is thermostatically controlled in the van so you can leave it on and its super quiet.

The electrics are underpinned by a lithium battery, which is charged when the van is in motion, when its connected to mains or from the 100 Watt solar panel on the roof. The set up can easily do 3-4 days on the battery at a campsite with no mains hookup. Of course any driving that you did would top this up. When we go camping we generally don’t bother with a hookup – the only advantage is that with a hookup you can run an electric kettle and toaster.

But with the two burner gas hob you don’t really need the electric kettle and toaster. The tap is powered so no foot pump, just turn on the tap to activate the pump to bring water from the 10 litre bottled stored below it.

Fridge has a small freezer compartment, which again has no problem running from the battery and solar for a few days off-grid.

Lots of storage and space in the back of the van as we chose not to install rear seats. You can fit 3 up front and the front seat has ISO FIX for child seats.

We do have a swivel base for the twin passenger seat so it can be rotated when camping for extra seating space. We currently don’t have it installed as it makes the passenger seat quite high during normal use. I can show you this and re-install it it needed.

Sleeping is taken care of in the pop top roof, which is a HiLo roof. The HiLo roof is the highest lifting roof on the market and unlike others, it was designed specifically for the transit custom. When the roof is up, there is platform that is rated for up to 50 stone in weight and easily accommodates two people for sleeping. The platform can also be raised allowing the full height to be enjoyed in the van front to back. Because the HiLo raises at the back as well, I can stand full height all the way through (and I am 6 foot 3).

We also have a Fiamma F45 awning installed for creating some shade next to the van. For a more permanent base we are including a side tent, with inflatable air beams. The tent attaches to the awning with a kador strip to expand you living space. Its also driveway compatible.

Including lots of spares and extras so you are ready to go.
