Vehicle Description

Selling Big Betty Blue, our much loved work van/camper. Betty started out as a work van for us (I run a cleaning and linens company, so the van delivered clean linens around Edinburgh). During lockdown, my son and I decided to convert it into a camper. He’s an engineering student, so had the talent to do it right… She needed to remain a practical work van, so we’ve insulated her, installed a vapour barrier and stretch lining. The ceiling is timber cladding. There’s a skylight (snug and water tight), a ladder to the roof, gas hob, fridge and portapotti. There’s also a diesel powered heater which does a great job at keeping her warm and snug in the winter. Ikea kitchen unit with drawer. And a portable battery pack, enough to keep the fridge/lights going for the weekend. I’ll include the solar charger for this as well, its still in the box. The goal of the conversion was to make something warm, dry and more comfortable than a tent!!! And still practical enough to use a a work van when not galavanting. Mission accomplished :-). In comparison to some of the awesome vans I see on here, she is basic. But that’s ok in my book! She’s reliable, comfy and good fun – all the essentials are there.

We’ve loved using her for trips into the highlands, jaunts to the Lake District or for just quick runs away for an overnight somewhere closer.

The Citroen Relay is an awesome van for a camper conversion. Fully galvanised, so she’ll never rust. Tall head height, so I can stand up (I’m 6′ tall). And a 6’wide tail, meaning the bed is comfortable for side to side sleeping. My work fleet has increased and we no longer have a need for her. She’s ready for a summer of adventure….
