Citroen Relay Luton 2.0L 2015
.
By trade I’m a cabinet maker, I originally set out to build a van for myself that I could also rent out when not using personally. From the beginning, I knew a Luton van would be the ideal base for a spacious and comfortable camper.
This particular van has had just one previous owner (Oxford University) and has covered only 12,000 miles, with a full service history and regular maintenance throughout its life. The engine, chassis, and cab are all in excellent condition. Plus, this model features a timing chain rather than a belt meaning you won’t have to worry about costly belt replacements every few years. With six gears, it’s ideal for camper life: better acceleration, smoother motorway cruising, and improved fuel efficiency. It’s a pleasure to drive, with an impressively tight turning circle and a practical length that makes handling effortless. Parking in supermarket car parks & in town is easy, even for me! I was genuinely excited when I came across this van, it felt like the perfect foundation for a premium camper conversion.
I will get a new MOT upon purchase. It passed first time with no advisories. If you look at the MOT history you get some idea of how good of a condition the vehicle is in. It’s just broken in and is at the start of its journey!
I’ve completed this conversion using only high-quality materials and trusted brands like Renogy, Dometic, and Thetford.
Inside, the van feels incredibly spacious, with 7ft 4inch (2.2M) high ceilings it feels so much more open compared to standard panel campervans, with a smart layout and plenty of storage throughout. It features a large L-shaped kitchen worktop, a Thetford oven with grill and three-burner hob, and a stainless steel sink with hot and cold water. There’s also a Dometic 80L fridge-freezer, a shower, and a flushable toilet.
The van offers two double beds, both designed for quick and easy setup. It takes just a couple of minutes to transform the seating areas into beds using the telescopic table stand. (see video)
The electrical system is also top quality, featuring two 130Ah AGM batteries charged by two Renogy 200W solar panels. The batteries also charge while driving or when the van is plugged into mains power. With this setup, it’s genuinely hard to run low on power, even during extended trips.
Water storage includes a 125L fresh water tank and a 60L grey water tank, making this van fully ready for off-grid living. Monitors are installed to easily check battery charge percentage, fresh water and grey water levels, room temperature, and more.
The water and air are heated by a top-of-the-range Truma D6E unit, which is plumbed directly into the vehicle’s diesel tank. This system is extremely efficient and highly effective and also exceptionally safe. Providing reliable heating without heavily draining the electrical system unlike fully electric heaters, which can be very power-intensive. Additionally the LPG gas is used solely for cooking so it will need to be refilled far less frequently.
The van is also incredibly well insulated, using a combination of 50mm and 30mm Celotex insulation. In addition, the Luton walls and floor are built from 15mm and 22mm plywood, adding another significant layer of thermal protection. Thanks to this construction, the van is better insulated than most, keeping it warm in the winter and cooler during hot weather. The exterior white wall finish also helps reflect heat, further aiding temperature control. A full moisture barrier has been installed too, ensuring long-term protection against damp. No corners have been cut. Every step of this build has been completed to a very high standard.
The van is also equipped with a roof fan that can both extract air and pull in fresh air, helping regulate temperature and ventilation. The windows are double-glazed privacy units, making it very difficult to see inside. Each window also features built-in blackout blinds and insect screens, allowing you to completely darken the interior, perfect for both stealth camping and a comfortable night’s sleep.
The exterior has been sprayed with Raptor protective coating on the outer part of the chassis, front and rear bumpers, and wheel arches. This gives the van a subtle textured finish while providing long-lasting protection against rust, stone chips, and general road wear. A massive 3.5m Fiamma awning is mounted to the side, ideal for creating a shaded area or sheltering from the rain when parked up. For added convenience, a rear reversing camera makes maneuvering and parking much easier.
Extra security has also been added to the rear doors, with three heavy-duty boron carbide locks installed, offering peace of mind whether you’re off-grid or parked in town.
I’m happy to accommodate viewings at most times, any day of the week, and I welcome any kind of inspection, just send me an email!
